I gave Swoope Pond a try for a few hours this morning after sinking some cover. Baitfish were everywhere, so thick in some areas you could almost walk on them. Zero fish though, not a single bite from anything. I've got about a half dozen pieces of cover sank and marked in Swoope now, but even single pole on those was a big zero. Water was 49 degrees with visibility about 18 inches.

I am thinking all of the fish must have left the pond and took the Ditch back to the river. I know it is deeper water than you fish most of the time. You make me feel better about not getting to go today, because if you are not catching them they must not be biting at all.
I had plans with my family in the afternoon. Maybe they turned on later?

I chose to watch my daughter play softball instead of fish. Wind felt a little brisk any way. I am gonna go look for ticks on the coon dogs tomorrow. Sorry for the hijack but I would like to know more about the structure you made. Feel free to PM me or we can multitask this thread.
Simple really, 1 1/4" PVC in concrete bases with 1/2 drip tube line. Light weight to drop with my kayak, but last forever.
1/2" drip was the piece i couldn't figure out. Light weight works in slack water. Thanks

The great thing about PVC, I've got some in Texas I sank on a creek bend when I was in high school 30 years ago. I caught Crappie in that spot a couple years ago visiting my parents. You can still find the PVC with a jig and it's still attracting and holding fish. It may take a little time and money, but it's a long term investment in the future.
Those trees look great DB? Doesn't the drip tube grab jigs though. Seems the smoother polymer stuff would not be as snaggy
I've banged all through them with jigs and never hung one. I guess if you had a 1/0 or 2/0 hook on a minnow you might.
After they've been in the water a while they'll cover over with algae, that brings the minnows and everything else. I got a couple in one spot on wheeler that's on either side of an old stump. It always holds at least one big bass along with crappie. I've caught several green carp in the 6 or 7 pound range over the last three years. They always work best in areas where there's very little cover or to enhance an area that's already holding fish. If you can find a creek bend in 12 to 15 feet of water that usually holds fish. Add a few of these and it will become a year round, sure thing for years and years.
By the way, I called it drip tube, but the real name is irrigation or polyethylene tubing. I pay about $85 to $90 for 1,000 feet of the 1/2" with no tax and free shipping. That's enough to make a dozen or so like the one in the picture.
