Yes
To be legal your name and address need to be on each rod if you run more than 3.
33 poles with one hook each. : )

"first three hooks do not need labels. Next 30 need to be labelled with name and address. Technically if you have two jigs on each pole labelling would need to begin on the second pole."
Here is the reply from one of Mo's conservation agents to this question last year. You will note he says: "first 3 hooks". So if you were fishing with 4 rods with one hook each, you would only have to label one rod. If you run with 2 jigs or minnows per rod, you would need to label all but one rod and you can fish with up to 33 hooks. Here is the link to the whole thread. Be sure to read post #8 from Tmason as well.
Thanks for the clarification and the address label idea is a good one.
Post 12 has some info worth reading
The big question is..........................ever heard of anyone getting a ticket because they didn't have their rods "marked"?
My question is I have eight rods with my name on them can my buddy that I'm fishing with use the also or would they have to label them also
Not sure either but that is how I have mine done. That way I can run 8 when by myself. Hopefully it covers us when two people rigging and sharing rods.
I believe you would be covered as far as labeling rods, with just your info.
then just keep fish separate or marked.
I have been checked on Truman and asked to see that my extra rod was labeled. The agent didn't actually look at the number close enough to know it was mine but wanted to see them labeled.
If an agent treats poles like a trotline or jug any fish you catch on your line or jug with your number goes toward your limit. So if all rods are labeled with one name/number they may all legally count toward one persons limit. Not for sure just a thought.
Here ya go, if nobody will fish with me, so I am only one in the boat! I borrow Jared's rods, I have all 8 of his rods set out. Game warden shows up, goes through my live wells, dry storage, ect and can't find anybody else in the boat. Who's rods are they? [emoji848]
Personally, I've been checked for license and limit 2x on Truman, both times rigging. Neither check (had another person with me) involved a discussion about "who is fishing with what rods".
Well got my answer today got checked by the mdc on Stockton and there answer was as long as the rods had a label that it was fine and who ever catches the fish that fish goes towards that persons limit and by the way rigging is a lot of work going to take a little practice but I think it will be fun when you get it down
Thanks for the info.
You have to be careful with this as a lot of your smaller conservation lakes or city lake are line and pole method only in which case you can only have three rods. Anywhere else you can use more that three as long as you mark them with your name and address and use no more than 33 hooks.
Not to add to the confusion by use laws from a different state but Illinois everything is about number of hooks. That way it applys to trot lines jugs or what ever. You can use up to 50+ hooks unless their are site specific rules against it. Main thing is to check the rules at the boat ramp just to make sure, those rules trump everything!
