A very nice tribute....thank you for sharing the link
Awesome, thanks for sharing. And Thank You to all our Veterans and anyone currently defending our freedom, home and abroad.
I stood at the casket of the Marine older brother of a childhood friend of mine who died there in 1969. It left a scarred memory on me.
I got out of high school a year before the conflict ended and the way GIs were being treated by those who opposed the war, caused me to decide the military wasn't for me. I have always regretted that decisions because my Dad served in the USAF, my brother in the Navy and I lost an uncle who was a proud Screaming Eagle with the 101st in Korea.
I ate breakfast with a friend this morning who saw many terrible things in Nam as a Marine. He mentioned today that he promised if he survived his hitch , he would never leave our county to live. He hasn't. My special thanks to him and all the others who served.
Two tours for me....68 and 71.......Welcome Home to all my brothers
A special thanks to those who did and do serve in the armed forces to protect my sorry, coward self from evil. Thanks.
Thanks for posting. Long time overdue. Brings back a lot of emotions.....
I was in the Air Force at that time. 1963-1983. I was a B 52 an KC 135 crew chief. I had combat mission but in the air. Thank you for the post.
Outstanding! Thanks for posting, "D"
:eek::eek:
No kiddin. Thanks to all
Thanks for posting this and thanks to all the vets who served.
I too never served. I am of the age that lots of friends brothers and cousins did though. And like so many families, some never came home. I'll never forget those that lost someone very close to them, and my inability to express how I felt. I have been fortunate to work with several vets from the 'Nam era. A few thought enough of me to talk of what went on and the losses they suffered and what went on when they returned. God Bless them each and every one, they bore a massive load for us at home. I don't have the words to express my respect for them yet, but maybe one day I will. Thank you for the post, and my Thanks to all that have served and are serving now.
Two timer here. 64 and 65. I was there when if first got underway (Gulf of Tonkin Incident, August 1964). If they had let me do my job, I could ended it in a "flash". Nuclear Weapons Team, USS Constellation CVA 64.
Thank you gentlemen.
I think one of the most amazing things is how people adapted to perform when they experienced such a culture shock. So many had no experience of a world any bigger than the county line or the next one. School classrooms of 20 people.Where you knew everyone around you. To then be sent that far away, into such a different world....very hard alone.Much less perform the task they did. Salute.
My cousin Vernon was a medic in Vietnam. They all were brave! GTT
One timer for me 70-71 also year in Thailand 66-67. Proud to serve and would do it again
I served 73-77 in the USAF as a weapons firing control tech on F4 Phantoms. Closest I came to Vietnam was receiving those we got out in 75 and put in a tent city in Florida. I'll never forget the tired, scared faces as I tried to clothe them. I have a close friend that suffers illnesses as a result of his time there and the chemicals he was crawling through. Also my niece's husband suffers all kind of illnesses as a result of the same. He will not talk about his mission in intelligence/interrogation over there. Both are in their mid sixties and disabled. No matter where served, veteran's are the glue to hold our country together strongly.
A big "Thank You" to all that served then and are serving now and also to the families that lost loved ones.
USAF 1967-1971

All gave some but some gave it all. Thank you for posting this.
WELCOME HOME
Welcome home soldier, and thank you for your service. Ours was a just cause.....US Army 1971....
I did my tour in 1972 USAF in a bomb dump, given the chance I'd do it again.
I will admit it still gets to me the way the vets were treated when they came home. Now that the general mood towards military personnel has changed to more favorable position, I wonder if those jackass's standing out side the military bases screaming "baby killer" and flipping us off tell their kids and grand kids how they acted. Not much in life gets to me but this does give me pause.
Thank you to all veterans
thank you to all the armed forces that support us in all the conflicts .....
Vietnam vets at the top of that list .....:ThumbsUp
I'm a veteran from that era, but did not serve in "the Nam". My overseas duty was in South Korea 1969-1970 - 8th Army Quartermaster Corps.
I was basically ignored upon my return to "the real world", so I had no idea of all the "anti's" behavior until much later.
Thanks to all those who have served, are serving, or will serve in the future. :HandsClapping
