FAMILY CAMPING TRIP 3/25/16-3/27/16

Guys my wife, boy and I are trying to plan out a camping trip for the 25-27 of march. There are so many options and I was hoping to get some advice. I am thinking about maybe Lake Greeson. I have never fished nor seen the lake in person. But let me tell you I have seen some of the most beautiful crappie that have come out of there and they are gorgeous! I know there is probably year round fishing to be done there but I was looking into what method would be preferred. Im typically a spider rigging guy that has decent electronics. If this method wouldnt be good there that time of year plz let me know. I know most places the fish should be getting shallow and into the brush. Thought the clear water lake would have them spawning in a little deeper water.

I just got back from there about an hour ago. Probably caught 75 yesterday and at least 50 today. MOST were throwback "scrapers", but we did keep a total of 73 between 4 of us over the weekend. The lake is low and the fish are in 16 fow now mostly, but we did find some in 10 fow. All caught on jigs, Cajun Crickets mostly.

You've know that lake to catch crappie there. You've gotta know where the brush piles are OR get the guides to take you out on the first day, then try to remember where you caught fish. Things could change so much between now and then. If the lake level rises 5 or 6 feet by then, they may be in the shallow water buck brush. If not, they'll be on shallow flats. They're not shallow yet, but if it stays warm, it won't be long. GTT

Greeson has some absolutely beautiful campgrounds. I've only fished it from the bank, but would love to camp there.

When we camp, we try to stay at Daisy State Park on leg E. Close to a nice boat ramp, lots of shade, nature trail, 2 shower houses that are always clean. GTT

Thanx for the advice guys! My wife loves to hike! I'm a lil heavy for hiking myself but will sacrifice for her hahaha. So this place sounds like the perfect get away! GTT sounds like u been in em thick!!! I'm jealous! If yaw are there during that time and see a white Lowe...don't be strangers! Thanx again! PS I don't go anywhere without plenty of food so stop by as well and we can all chow down!

Buddy camped there last week and flat wore the catfish out on jugs using shad...

We camped in a tent at Daisy state park about 8/9 years ago 3rd weekend of October with a AR fish n camp. The lows were 28 and a 30 mph wind. Our site was on the left with a cove at the bottom of the hill. There was some carpet at the water's edge so I didn't wade mud getting in the boat and didn't have to launch everytime. The ramp parking lot and marina were behind us. Kinda up hill so the ridge gave us some protection from the wind. I tried spider rigging and didn't catch a thing.

It might not have been at Daisy state park. I looked at the map and didn't see a marina. The cove we camped at don't look right.

If we're still there, I'll definitely try to meet up with you. I believe my friend had site #96 reserved and is planning on pulling his camper. NOT sure yet exactly long we'll stay, though. GTT

You were probably at Kirby Landing. There's a Marina there. GTT

Late March I'd be headin south, Sardis ,Washington, Grenada !!!! The 3 lbrs will be smokin it over there, D'Arbonne is on fire right now and it will only get better , you not that far from any of these awesome lakes, I'll bet the family has a blast regardless of which lake you choose, good fun and gods fishin too ya my friend!!!!!

My family went to D'Arbonne last spring and had a great time.

Not many 3lb fish at Sardis.

If D'Arbonne is on fire it must have just started . I was there 10-14 days ago & nobody was catching much. I may need to go back. Have you been there Crappie Greg?

EXCELLENT advice Greg!!! That's not off the table for sure. I got a cabin at COSAAR for March 11-14th. Gonna be hitting Nader up then and or any of the big 4 which ever is doing best at the time. And may come back the last weekend of March......but man I been seeing them gorgeous specks out of greeson and I gotta go get me some at some point! But if I get into em across the big bridge on the weekend of the 11-14th then it is going to be very hard for me to not come back the last weekend! Any one that is going to be around Enid on the 11-14th should stop by cabin 1. I may even bring my fish cooker and put some grub together!

By the way Greg, CONGRATS on the CACA tourney at clear lake! Starting the year off great! I was pumped to see the results!

BRM I am blessed to get a lot of TOW. Got a decent work schedule and wife that understands my need to be in a boat!

That's what I said last year! So we went and had a great time even though we didn't get into them like that. A cold front came through and they moved and we didn't find them until too late. Beautiful lake there too. Spawn could be in full swing at that time too. I get though, so many lakes, and so little time. We just need a crappie crystal ball.

Yes we do need a crystal ball!!!!!! I didn't realize washington had fallen off.... I will take your advice though. Anyone been to chicot lately? I have been fishing washington a little and keep just driving right on by that beautiful lake!

They have been wearing them out in connerely bayou, ditch bayou and the gravel Pitt for two months! !!

OH MAN!!!! Now this is my kind of a report! I will look into it! I don't know where any of these areas are. Seems like there are some decent places to get out of the wind on this lake, or in the bayous and ditches. I will make a mental note.

Connerely bayou is around middle of the lake ,ditch bayou is on the south end u cross over it on hwy 65.and the gravel Pitt is across from the state park on the north end !!!!
