I left work early Friday and went to Madison County Lake, fishing for a couple hours with only four small Crappie to show for it. My wife called, she wasn't feeling well so I called it an early day and head home. If anyone is catching, they're sure not sharing the information, LOL!
You think they dont want to share any infomation on here about catching:dono, just try asking for long lining info if you really want to see tight lips!! I had to go to game plan 2 as my buddy got a bad yankee bug this week and was still under the weather ,which nixed our dock shooting, long lining plans .So off to big G bridges. I managed 20 from 430 am till around 8 am but only kept 8 , a lot of short ones still .I did put a couple in the bucket that were 14 inches. Next year ought to be a bumper crop based on all the 6 to 8 inchers i have caught all winter.
Went to Weiss yesterday long lining oodles of fish but most around 9" only had 15 out of about 130 that was 10" went to Guntersville today for about 3 hours shooting docks 4 keepers and 2 shorts 1 green fish all released for another day got tired of fighting the wind gave it up . not been long lining yet on big g hope to give it a try next week.
Don't know about the north but down here where I'm at the high muddy water seems to be keeping everyone at home. :banghead
Nothing worth reporting on upper bear for sure. Spent last three days on water with 2 crappie to show for it.
If we don't get a break from all the rain, it's gonna be a bad year in South bama. Squeezed a few from eufaula today but 3 days of rain next week will stop what little bite we getting.
I'll be thinking about fishing at work tomorrow.
I've been working. When I get back on the water I'll report good or bad.
I haven't gotten serious yet. Just been bank fishing and a couple of trips to some back waters in a john boat. Have been catching some 10 to 20 a trip. I'll start posting when I get the stinger on the water. Might go next weekend.
My thumb is raw and finger cut opened . It was worth it . A lot of fish today.
Slammed them this AM. Water temps are coming up
Had 25 yesterday on Madison County Lake the day after DB hit it, but I was out in 30 FOW not on the brush. Don't think the fish have really moved yet. All this rain has them out deep yet.
Bob,
Way to go! I might have gotten a few more if I'd stayed but it wouldn't have been many. The bite was very soft and the wind was gusting close to 20 MPH.
Attachment 229693 Good day
I figured there was some of yall out there that had this problem. lol While fishing Thursday I saw some water hit 53 degrees and the weekend has been real mild in the night. I am hoping to persue them hard startin the middle of this week if the dang wind will stay down.
Fished Guntersville Sat. morning. Water was 47-48 temp. Not pulling much water but the wind sure did blow. I caught 5 crappie all were short.Caught a lot of small yellow stripe, one bass and got tired of fighting the wind. Was fishing browns creek. Never found any concentration of fish. Did see allot of boats fishing but no one I talked with was doing any good. I have not fished any since last Nov. when I did catch a few nice ones and a lott of short fish. The fishing may be good the next couple of years but who knows. Just got to get time to be on the water more. Tight lines and have fun even if you don't catch many.
I too fished the G Saturday morn with 2 keepers and 8 shorts to show. haven't been much due to needing to work or when not working, the water is at flood stage everywhere.
Wish I could report :dono
Toughest Febuary I've ever had on the Big G. I went this morning and had good current which normally means fish and cought 3 in 4hrs.
I fished Saturday on Guntersville. I caught 1 keeper and 2 whisker fish. My boat is not that great, but I saw a guy that had a 10 ft jonboat with only a trolling motor, no outboard no electronics. He emptied a 5 gal bucket of really quality fish into his cooler as he was leaving. I shook my head and laughed to myself. I think I need lessons.
Fished yesterday in the rain, the only thing I caught was my bilge pump running, man did it rain!!!!
Always amazes me how the old timers will always out fish me five to one with a hand cut bamboo pole, a rust hook and a few minnows in an old john boat with a board as a paddle. :banghead
HMMMMM 5 to 1 you say that means if the old guys are with you and you catch your usual 30 and 30 more or so releases ,that means if my math is close that they would be catching close to 300 fish at the same time you are catching yours
30x5= 150 plus the released catch another 30 x 5 =150 so its got to be ditch and the old timers giving the fish the sore mouth keeping us commoners from catching much of anything HA:notworthy
I sure can't take credit for give many a sore mouth the last couple of months! :dono
