For the remainder of 2016 fishing season, I challenge every board member to pick up at least one (more if you desire) piece of trash for every time you trailer your boat. Even if you have to go out of your way, remove one piece of liter from the area.
I've been launching at Windsor Crossing some lately, it is terrible. I planned to get back with a large bag, and will, but it got me to thinking if every boat took one item from any ramp area how much better it would be.

Good idea. The ramps we use are usually very good. What really aggravates me is the trash along the roads. You drive out of town and people think that is a good place to throw out fast food trash, cans, bottles and whatever. The truck stop in town doesn't have lids on there trash cans outside so it all blows across the road into the trees and weeds. It looks horrible. Sometimes it is cleaned up but not for long. Oh well that is my soapbox for today.

Gordon, it seems you have alot of people looking at your post but not many responding. You have a great idea.

I pick stuff up all the time. Hate litterbugs too. I even stop and pick up cans and bottles floating in the lake.
Whenever I walk the banks at Bush Wildlife Area I always end up with my pockets full of trash. It amazes me that people will get up and leave every bit of their trash sitting where they fished all day.
That is a great idea and usually we pick things up at ramps and especially in the water. A better idea my be trying to appeal to the litterbugs to stop dropping trash and save it until they are near a container. Probably never happen but worth a try. I have said something to folks I have seen tossing stuff on the parking lots. They usually get embarrassed.
I was gonna recommend something similar. People need to be called out on it, but we don't have to be dicks about it either. Usually just a question, "Hey, you planning on coming back for your trash?" makes them realize their behavior isn't going unnoticed.Quote:

Great idea and it will help give my live well a purpose in life.
If you keep your eye out in some discount/hardware stores, they have these long handled "grabbers" that work well for picking up trash. It helps prevent getting poison ivy, snake bit or simply dirty from picking up trash. I live on state road frontage, so I always have to pick up trash along side my yard. Bending over repeatedly gets in my back, but these grabbers help a lot-plus they work well for getting things out from behind or underneath appliances, etc. I even keep one in the boat and use it for grabbing my marker buoys out of the water when I'm done fishing in that area.
Two trips since starting this thread and I'm doing my part. Maybe pics of trash like pics of crappie? LOL.... Thanks to all of those that are stepping up. Bucksaw is as bad as Windsor Crossing.
No trash to pick up at ramp Friday and Saturday. that is good. Saturday water temp 46 on Gasconade. 4 kids playing in the water. Boy about 12 was soaked. He said water was a little cool. I said it is 46 degrees. He said "Holy Crap". lol. gotta love kids. I was cold just washing your hands I can"t imagine getting the rest of you in the water.
