Any reports from Weiss? None of the guides have updated for a week or so. Thinking about heading down next week. Just wondering if the longlining has started yet. Thanks

According to the Friday Fishing report on AL.com over the last several weeks, Mark Collins has been catching them long line trolling Jiffy Jigs in the Little River and similar areas. Not a fan of the big shallow mud hole so I can't give a personal account.
Was out Friday and had 73 longlining up in Little River. Water was 43.5 degrees and good color. Fish were stacked in the river channel on the ledge. Every pass we picked up a few. Jiffy jigs and southern pro grubs were working. Just stayed at it to get them in the boat. Was fishing a double rig w a 1/16 on the bottom and a 1/24 above that. Fish were 7.5-15 deep.
Weather kept most including myself off the water last couple of weeks. Heavy rains also muddied the water week before last. Its my understanding that some brave souls caught fish toward the end of last week in Little river . Those fish have been there for a while if you want to fish with a bunch of other boats. Warming trend this week should help. You should start catching fish in some of the deeper creeks i.e. yellow ckeek, cowan and big nose. Water is very low and flood moved a lot of old logs trees ect. Dont know where but there out there some where.
I hear you coach. I think I have seen that flotilla a few times before while bass fishing.
Thanks for the reports guys!
Good report BOB glad you got on them I guess you had it all by your self over their . Lol
Yeah chicken point! My friend was there on a Sunday a week ago had 22 boats all around him? Not my favorite way to compete with a bunch of boats.Lol
Yea, there were a few of us there, 18 boats I think. Mark was there for awhile, when he left, 15 boats went with him. I stayed put and kept catching fish. Mark came back and so did all the boats. Lol Tadpole, I only get to Weiss once or twice a year. I spend most of my time on the Big G. I'm trying to get around more and try some other lakes.
We are planning on coming down the 23-25 hope to catch a few... is it very muddy?
Muddy compared to what? This lake is always stained say compared to Guntersville. Heavy rain monday night will probably color it up some but with the way Ala power has been pulling water should be clearing by weekend. You should have no problem the 23rd. Bring rain suit. Rain forcasted mon thru wed. Also lot of debris in lake. Be careful
I had some buddies fishing at Weiss lake last weekend. They fished for 4 days and they picked up around 80 keepers. They fished in little river and yellow creek.
kenja, are your buddies from TN? There was a boat of guys from TN that said they were spending a few days down there. They were throwing jigs under a bobber and not trolling in the middle of everything there in little river last Friday. They looked they were catching a few keepers in there as well.
No they are from Ky riding in an Lund. They said something about a boat that was parked right in the middle of everybody that was pulling
The last couple of days you could walk across little river and not get your feet wet. boats everywhere I am not going to fish like that, Life is too short, there has been more boats out early this year than I can remember in a long time. But if you will look around you can find some fish and stay away from all the rest.
I used to fish below the Ross Barnett spillway in the early 80's. I have literally fished in a wad of 15-20 boats that you could have tied together. Every one of them was catching crappie. I would take that every day. One morning I caught over 100 crappie in one small spot the size of a wash tub.
Was over their yeasterday in one cove they was at least 28 boats lots of fish being caught most was short wouldn't been so bad if everyone would made circles together but they was 3-4 that was zig zagging in between everyone messing things all up.
