Crappie in freezer in tn How many
I don't know, but I'm sure this will be a great thread.
Don't know but would like to.
"Legally" ... it's two days creel limit (aka "possession limit") according to this : TWRA - Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Frequently Asked Questions

I know a lot of illegal people.

My opinion , mark packages with dates on them when freezing. I think would hold up in court more than not marking them. Just a opinion not the law.:popcorn
TJ ... that might help you keep track of how many fish you have in your freezer, but not sure how that would help you in court ... it's not how old the fish are, it's how many you have "on hand" at the time of the inspection.
And it's probably not very likely that the F&W popo will be visiting your home, unless you're caught doing something else illegal by them, or someone turns you in.
It's just another one of those laws that honest people will follow, and the "others" won't because there's little chance of them being caught (since the law is probably rarely enforced).
KY did away with the "in the home freezer" possession limit clause a few years ago. Now, all "processed" fish in your possession do not count towards your possession limit. Ya'll might consider petitioning the TWRA to change your possession limit laws to the same interpretation.

A two day limit is 30 fish. I have 4 licensed fisher people in my home. That means 4 x 30 is 120 fish. That is 240 fillets. I think I'm good! Plus with some of my "botched" fillets, good luck piecing together the evidence!!:biggrin
I asked the game warden this same question. He told me each person is allowed 15 fish per day on the lake we was at
If the person goes fishing every day an catches 15 he is doing nothing wrong therefore they are not worrying about possession
limit in your freezer But if you get caught doing something illegal look out because your freezer will be checked Just something
else you gonna get wrote up for He also told me that he really hoped his freezer never gets checked:biggrin
Best not to get caught then eh??
I was told pretty much the same thing. The reason I asked is because I save fish till May and have a yearly church fish fry for the senior people. I'm sure it would be bad P R if the paper said they arrested me at the Church fish fry! Maybe i should ask for forgiveness tomorrow just in case!!!!!!!
You're fine. Only way you'd ever get your freezer searched is you were a known outlaw and then they'd still have to have a warrant.
Unless you are a licensed taxidermist in many states like KY. That license gives F&W the right to walk into my business and open my freezers any time they want with or without just cause. Probably applies to my home freezer also. I never keep any taxidermy to-do work anywhere but at my shop.
I don't have to worry about over the "possession" limit in my freezer because all my friends and family keep mine cleaned out.
Most states do not consider processed fish or game as part of your possession limit. Call TWRA and ask them what they consider as part of your possession limit. And don't ask the lady that answers the phone, ask for the person over rules and regs.
Interesting CP. I wonder how they justify the fish caught in other states?
TWRA sees it as Pappy says. However I have never heard of that happening to anyone except when someone violated the laws out in the field in an extreme way and they wanted to search the house of the offender.
Regards
I'm not sure, but I do believe we've had that very discussion on the site before. You might do a search (advanced search) and put in the search words "possession limit" ... then look for a thread from the Main Message forum, from some years back.
I wouldn't want to hi-jack this thread any more than we already have, unless others from Tenn were interested in comparing the possession limit laws.

I wish a Game warden would weigh in on this,or TWRA would clarify this since most lakes have a 15 per day limit, but some have a 30 per day limit, which one would they go by since the fishing guide doesnt specify.
sinkum ,if i depended on fishing i would starve, lol
