What is your personal method of storing, organizing your waypoints for different lakes
SD cards
If you are naming them I use first letter of lake , next two are creek then number . I start with high number nearest main lake body . Example Ewc99 would be Enid lake ,wallace creek at the mouth of the creek . Sbc01 would be Sardis , blackwater creek as far up as you can go .
SD cards. I use Icon color codes. Red is "hot" and we all know what yeller is.
Not interested in SD cards..organizing on unit like E-1 is talking about
Your assuming we are organized:popcorn
Too many waypoints, I have different cards for each lake for each unit.
I am only interested in 6 lakes.
I guess I did..let me clarify...how do you organize the points while STORED within your unit
If you haven't done so ..... get them backed up OFF the unit in Humminbird PC. You don't want to loose them all if the unit craps out.
Just remember ...
Editing waypoint names on any of the "non- touch" core series units is a very time consuming process ...because of having to use the 4way cursor one click at a time for selecting and changing each character in the waypoint name ...
So you may find that a "re-naming method" with fewer characters will be more efficient ...

Finally, Rickie...that is what I am looking for!!!! Would you please give me some examples
All I came up with like for a fish attractor on Sardis lake #12...would be SLfa12....then I would only use 3 icons.. One for fish caught, land marks, and fish attractors of any sort..I already have them grouped by lakes..I only fish 5 big lakes
You could shorten that to....SA12
I just organized 5000 Waypoints by lake for Tony Sheppard (2014 Crappie Masters champion) ...
Even tho I edited the Waypoints in HBPC ... I still found the shortest amount of characters possible and still be able to discern that waypoint by recognition ...
Realizing that HB units have a maximum waypoint capacity in the internal memory ...I left the last 4 characters of the waypoint name string for the sequential numbering of 0001-3000 (most HB units are max at 2750 or 3000 but still 4 characters) ...
Then at the front of the waypoint string naming would be a Capital letter for the lake ...followed by n (North) or s (South) for some larger lakes ...
For example Tony wanted Kentucky Lake separated into North and South ... :
So on 1 SD Card ... Waypoints were named as Kn0001, Kn0002, etc (meaning Ky Lake North 0001, Ky Lake North 0002, etc)
On a separate SD Card ... Waypoints were named as Ks0001, Ks0002, etc (meaning Ky Lake South 0001, Ky Lake South 0002, etc)
-----
On smaller lakes, Tony didn't want separate SD Cards for sections ...so just the Capital letter and the number sequence was used for waypoint naming ...

Thanks guys..G, I took your advice. Sa12, will work
