I have tried multople color combinations of the ones big bites makes. Nada.
There are so many good plastics with proven track records (trout magnets, sliders, etc), I don't see the need for plastic crickets.
^^^^^ this. Panfish magnets put a pile of fish in my boat last summer. Just got some Itty Bitty Slab Slayers snd theg lookngreat. Cant wait to get o some bream with em.
Small black jig and nibbles is the ticket for bream.
I've had good luck with the Gulp! Crickets.
I use the chartreuse color.
bought these cricket tadpole looknig plastics in okeechobee years ago .fished em on a jig and they kind of glided and kicked.could not keep the bluegills and crackers off them.cant say they worked any
where else.must have matched something they were feeding on.can not remember what they were called.one of those truly magic local baits.
Huh?????
Yes they work very well,at least for myself.I would add them to the arsenal, I was pleasantly surprised while fishing the overflow of a large dam,the crappie were hammering the chartreuse crickets like they were candy,go for it.
Baker?? What brand and how did you rig your setup.????
Berkeley, some off brands, and I recently bought some micro plastics from a small pourer.I fish them much like you would fish a plastic tube, often weightless.Since I'm mostly a crappie and gill getter,I at times use my extention poles, and simply swing the lure past stumps, and let the lure sink and swing alongside the stump, crappie like to hang in or against debri, the sinking lure makes for an easy meal.
When fishing pools,I use a small sinker a few inches above the lure, cast and reel slowly, again much like fishing a plastic tube.Bouncing a weighted cricket in the shallows in gill waters, are hard to beat, hope some of this helps.
Thanks for your fine responses!!
The little crayfish work. Especially on the Ozark streams.
Jann's Netcraft has them.
