Got to be some available in Crescent city somewhere. Hope you enjoy your trip. Make sure and post pics. And look for Vic and Eilene, they wont be far from fish for sure.
The marina over on the river has minnow, but it's a pretty long drive. Hoped we pick some up on the way in.
Georgia Boys gives you plenty for your money
I bought minnow coming in to Palatka on 20 turn right on 19 two blocks on right Messer's Westside Bait the corner of 19 and S moody rd. little hole in the wall store
Thanks for the info, looking forward to the trip.
Check with Leonards, they are next to the blue house on the lake. Usually have them but may have to buy the night before so you don't have to wait for them to open.
Leonards is somewhat expensive i've heard
Likewise Messesser's sells "big minnows" and hefty price on them.
Just finished talking to 3 guys who live on Crescent - they pick up their minnows
at Georgia Boys - best prices and they give you ample product
If there is any way possible, I would bring me some crappie shiners with me. The ones they sell around Crescent are the black ones. The last place I know to buy shiners on the way down is around Tallahassee. When we always went down we hauled our shiners.
GA Boys is cheaper & great to deal with but if your stayin in Crescent City it's a far drive,
what you may save in minner prices you will spend in fuel & time unless you buy a bunch on your
way in & have a way to keep them for a few days.
Can't be that much of a drive if the guys i talked with live on Crescent at
the north end up by Dunn's creek - and they go to Georgia Boys for their bait.
Heck down here we go 50 -72 miles for minnows.............duh.
Do have 2 places closer to tampa but they sell by dozen and most could be used
for sardnes if you had a bad day.
Missouri minnows and Bull Nose are the most hardy and popular, they come out
of Arkansas.
Have used the Rosey Red's couple times at various lakes in Florida - found to be
no difference in catch rate.
This! No bait shop I have seen in central Florida sells small shiners, only mediums and large, Missouri Minnows and on a rare occasion Rosy Reds. Ain't seen Rosies in years though. Wish I knew one of the guys that fishes wild shiners for the bait shops. I would have em get me a couple hundred 1.5" - 2" wild shiners when needed. Years ago across the street from the dump in Deland you could net em out the pond by the road, but thats gone to development now.
Renegades on the river,
Welaka bait and tackle,
Ga boys is further away but I always get mine there on the way down
Went Leonard's once and don't plan on going back
