Download an app for your phone. They work great. Lots of them out there for a few bucks on up.
I use this one, but have several more on my phone.

Yep, will definitely try that Bill. Technology is probably a lot better now than what I tried downloaded about 5 years ago.. It got me within about 30-40 feet when I checked it on a visible object, course I didn't have good fishfinder then either.
Tried to do the motionx but couldn't do it. My phone is too old to run the ios 8.0 operating system required. Guess that means I'm a full fledged geezer.
Garmin! Etrex! Phone apps are fine, but you can't read 'em in the sunlight.
another vote for Garmin, have a marine one that I used.
Got a Lowrance H2O I don't need any more. It was a good unit.
If you're taking an ATV, you can hook up the power cord on your fish finder and use it. You don't have to run the sonar stuff, just the power cord. If need be, you can set the sonar to Stop Sonar and turn that feature off until you put it back on the boat.
Dang! I don't know anything. Think I'm running last in the hi-tec race.
Mississippi Wildlife, fisheries and parks has a app for your cell phone that has gps and a lot other things like calendar and fishing reports. Check it out here it is free the name of it is called the pocket ranger.

Boatbottom, just go buy you a Garmin Etrex for a 100 bucks! Had one for over 10yrs. Use it to mark fishing spots, hunting spots, etc. I have a GPS on my phone, but it ain't worth a "hoot" unless you're in the shade! You won't be sorry!
I have an etrex that is close to ten years old . It is the base model . no maps computer downloads ,ect . to just mark and return it's good . Its the one most take on a guide trip for a day then them/friends fish the next 5 days . lol :biggrin
Garmin Oregon 450
Any model is good as long as it is a Garmin...have owned 4 models. All were good
Garmin seems to be the name most of y'all recommend. Gonna shop for a base model.
Ordered from amazon at 88 bucs and free ship.
Good buy!
