Two subjects here, been using hummingbird for years but I really like the new garman units.
Second is how would you break it to your significant other you want to buy a new boat?? I love my alumacraft but going to get my 3rd grandchild and I need a bigger boat, ( right) lol! So let's hear you best pitch!!
Take her and the children and grandchildren all fishing in your boat,tell her how nice it would be,how much safer it would be, to have a bigger boat.Get he ok on the boat then start rigging
If you can be patient, take the family to Table Rock this summer, load up the boat and go sit on a point fishing for the afternoon. Sooner or later, a jackass in a 50' ocean going vessel will pass by and nearly roll you over with his wake. This happened to me. WE ("WE" meaning my wife and I) came home and started shopping for a bigger and better boat. Please note. There is a certain amount of danger involved with this approach. If I hadn't just have happened to look back the direction this guy had passed by us, we would have been swamped by his wake. It scared the __________ (you pick a word) out of us. Good luck. Steve

I was sitting on the wier on Truman this spring and some dope went in front and then cut across the back within 25 yards of us and did the same thing. How big a wave does it take to come over a deep v ? I yelled but I know he couldn't hear me.

Well the negotiations have started. It's a trip to London,or Alaska. May have her talked down to Cap Cod!! Will have to wait till end of this season but I see a new ranger in my future!
I have been down that road many times! I just buy what I want and deal with it! That has worked great! Wait..........the divorce cost me waaaaaay more than the boat so.........don't do it my way!!!! :)

Used 619 or a new 1880 oh and by the way she is the best wife I could ever have. Can fish 20 -25 weekends a year she bought me a new bow when we first got married. Been married 33 years now wouldn't trade he for anything. All trips are round trips. Lol
Boats always end up costing me a new car, SUV or house. I have tried the its on sale line that she uses so frequently but just does not work. I will be looking at new rigs this weekend at the sports show. So I sure hope she is ready to upgrade the Jeep Grand Cherokee she got a year and a half ago when I got the last Ranger :biggrin
I have tried the "persistent suggestion" complete with pictures off Craigslist of excellent buys, attempted to persuade her it was a great idea for her (epic fail, btw), even attempted the old, "but I think I have earned this over the years" approach...flopped like a gilled catfish!
Now...here is what worked like a charm...both of my girls started in on me about my current boat being way too small for the g kids. BAM! Done deal. Then my son in law bought my old Stratus fish and ski! That's called a WIN/WIN!!!!
For the record, there were many other "ploys" for this and other purchases over the years, but I will never admit to all of them! And IF Keeferfish or Joedog or JackB rat me out to my awesome lovely wife, I will spike their lures with gasoline!!!!!!! JK...I tried that it definitely does NOT work for catching fish....
