Decided to go to the deer stand a little while this evening and being as it was pretty cool I broke out the Hush Hyde, only put on a pair of levis and a Columbia long sleve fishing shirt and then the bibs and coat. Man it was hot, didn't wear them at all last year and if its not below freezing I wont wear them again this year. Great gear but strictly for COLD weather.
I have the bibbs and a coat . Neither come out unless it's under 30 degrees . With a shooting house they are worthless . lol:biggrin
You are right, great for morning hunting but I rarely hunt in the morning. They are over 20 years old and still do the job they were designed to do.
I also very rarely hunt off a tree stand any more, box stands for me from now on. Gonna build a few more this summer to give me a couple more options.:biggrin

Box stands are great for me and girls too. Doesn't get as cold as used too. We usually layer up to keep warm as the walk in and out we head up so much
I have a quad Hush Hide jacket. It'll make you sweat in 30 degree weather. It's for COLD weather. Lori got it for me about 15 years ago. It's the Gamehide brand also.
I wear the coat lining as a coat.:biggrin lol
I have a Sub-Zero coverall suit that I bought in '75 from Sears for those cold nights working outside for the railroad. It had to be 10 degrees and colder before I could work in it without sweating. Wearing extra on my head besides a plastic hard hat could control the body heat too. I went to the military surplus store for a wool helmet liner for the super cold nights. A cotton helmet liner for the not so cold nights. A cut up pair of hose for the cool nights. In the early 2000's we had to wear a reflective vest when outside. The largest they would order was a 4XL. With the coverall and/or a rainsuit I had to stitch 3 vest together so it would be large enough.
Fished a green carp tourney years ago, rained 3.5 inches during the tourney and the temps fell into the low 30s, never got cold and never got wet.
I could have used some of those yesterday morning going down the yalobusha river to deer hunt before daylight.
Hush hide is awesome when it's really cold. Bought some King of the Mountain wool pants and shirt in '93. Works well when it starts out 25 degrees and climbs up to 50 during the day
Deer hunted Illinois one year in my Hush Hide. -16 degrees, snowing, and wind howling 25-30 mph. Dang glad I had it. Stayed comfy on stand with some layering.
