They left by noon and had a nice batch of crappies.

Way to go guys!
Holly smokes, those are some awesome crappie photos and video, it would take all night to watch all those great videos, thanks for sharing.
Few of those vids looks like the ice was thin, but your last post said you have 20" of ice now.
Thanks for sharing, and those jigs you got there are 1/100th oz, do you use those with a split shot, looks like it, and do you use the 1/80s and 1/64 jig much. Thanks again, great looking fishies.
Yeah them guys are slaughtering them crappies with CrappieKeith's handtied jigs! There's nothing wrong with a systems that works, and his works.:D
Hey Crappie Keith & Magnet,
I was out today with my neighbor from 2:00 til 6:00 and both got our limits. T.H.E. Jig does work, and no meat.
Take care,
Flathead...
Yes I do use a split shot. The trick is to not have it too close to the jig,say 14-18 inches away and it needs to be the small ih size or smaller then the jig head as the sonar will loose the signal. Then you are pumping up the gain to read it which cause a lot of arrant signals that you do not need to read.
I like to go with 64th's or 80th's ,but it nice to have that 100th when they are tough to catch.
Today is Sunday and we pounded 2 limits out in no time. The pressure was dropping which helped.
I'll post some more pics and a video as soon as it downloads into my photobucket.
thanks for the kind word CM & Flathead.
I am glad to see that the schooling a few weeks ago is paying off.
So how is it not having to go buy minnows?
Minnows??
I don't understand-HA HA!! Who uses those things?
Minnows= COLD HANDS
Flathead...
Hey Flathead,
I took your post from Catch-n & brought it here.
Thanks for giving me the O.K.
As told by Flathead....
It started in 2000; I worked with an outdoor guru. When ever we headed to the lake or river, he would always SMOKE me.
To him, a depth bomb and the arm length is the way to fish and find depth or to us "SONAR"
It didn't matter that he used 12lb line on an old (broken) summer rod with the backbone of a 2X4, rigged with a Zebco 202 that did not work. He would just use the old, hand over fist method, of days of old. He would put down a "Beach Ball" sized bobber and a huge jig and still. You all know the guy that can get fish and does it like a Caveman (sorry Geiko commercial guy & family).
Well Caveman Jim, welcome to the Sonar, spring bobber, and T.H.E. Jig!
He had 2 holes, each with an "Ice Buster" bobber and Demon size 10/8 jigs (my rods and fishing setups before). He brought his equipment but had not updated them since the last time he broke the line/s (would have to retie them). He loaded them up, one with a minnow and one had a spike.
He said, "Do you need a minnow"? I said I don't need meat. He said, "OKAY”!!
In less than five minutes, he was Stunned!!! Regardless of the depth, I could see and fish the whole water column using sonar. If I see a fish come in and suspend above my offering, I could reel up to them, which is impossible to do without sonar and using a bobber. He did not want to put a flasher down to fish (I brought both of my sonar units); he said it scares the fish, knowing that I had one in my hole. He did keep asking, (What depth are you getting them).
Some people are not willing to keep an open mind. I was wondering if the trip to fish with Keith was a 100+ mile waste, myself.
I would not have had the confidence in T.H.E. Jig, if I had not had the opportunity to fish it with Crappie Keith. He knows what he is doing and conveys (teaches) it well, if you are willing to listen and/or observe. Keep in mind that I went thinking, “I know how to fish a spring bobber, what could he know"!!!! Keith has changed my fishing style. (For the short time I spent fishing with Keith, I tried to absorb as much information as I could).
I went to the lake without minnows, spikes, wax worms and still have the confidence that I will take fish. More fish than I usually did in the past.
To sum up our trip- 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm (3 1/2 hours)
-Rush Lake
-30 FOW
-Suspended fish from 18' to the bottom
Caveman Jim- 13 Fish, using meat, 2 lines and bobbers
Flathead- 45+ Fish, using a spring bobber and T.H.E. Jig (one line was used)
Please, do yourself a favor. Take this opportunity to change your fishing, and CATCH-N!!!
Thank you for the knowledge/lesson,
Flathead...
Oh may gosh, I can't stand you guys!!!!!!!!!
I do not know how to respond to that.Quote:

I'm not able to now as there is so much to say.
Next week when I come back from ice fishing we can talk about it or you can hit one of my links where it is all laid out already.
My Dad says at my mom b-day party lets go on Sat.so we did.
It was great to have him out .
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1417.jpg
Those buggers were though & I spent most of my time on his heels helping him.
I managed to snag a few myself.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1416.jpg
We had a great time laughing and telling stories.
He is a great one for that.
SandBurr and his 2 boys came up.
His buddy was on Mille Lacs & kept calling to see what was up.A perch or 2 was all for the big pond fishermen.
SB had 3 before we got there .
Here are a few pics and video.

y'all sure got it goin on! great thread!! if i had a jacket, i would come join ya.
I got a spare!
Look at a few from today.
Saturday with my Dad was a fun time.I already made that post.
Sunday was a awesome time as well.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1457.jpg
SandBurr & the boys were still there as it was questionable because the heater went south.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1452.jpg
My bud Billy showed up unexpectadly too.
He learned how the jig works a few years ago & decided to head up for a run at some slabs.
When Rick & I were packing up & Bill was too as we all had our limits.
SandBurr took off a few hours earlier with 3 limits so out of 5 of us
50 slabs were bucketed.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1450.jpg
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...h_HPIM1455.jpg
Being the bite was tough we tried to make darn sure SB went home with a full limit.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...h_HPIM1432.jpg
The pressure was high & the fish did not want to come running as we saw the past few days.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...d/HPIM1440.jpg
You had to just get above them & diddle it slowly.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...h_HPIM1439.jpg
As a matter of fact my first 2 were while I was taking video of Rick & my hand got heavy.I was holding my rod in 1 hand & the camera in the other.
So I'd rear & there was a fish on.Boy do I have video.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...h_HPIM1426.jpg
I did see a few other fellows getting fish on minnows ,but not many out of the 20 guys I talked with.
Rick was on fire today & I think he was on a misson to treat me to a little pay back after the shallacking I gave him on tues.
Sure I caught my limit ,but he nailed 3 times as many.
He was on fire & figured those slabs out quick.
I told him I was cutting him off of the jig dole if he kept it up ,but that did not work.
He just laughed at me, then warned me not to train my hole into a no fish hole.
SandBurr & his boys had a great time too & it is always nice to spend time with him.
Once I went into his wheel house and the action was furious.
There's one oh no he got away ,oh theres another l.Lift Code ,lift!
Turtle Boy flying around fish flopping in the basket.
Rick bought a new 6800 Clam & it is nice to fish with some elbow room & another guy ,in liew of being alone in my Traveler.
We bantered steady from 8-3 like to old hens.
[
In just a few weeks this area will really light up.
Stay tuned!
I wish every weekend could be like this one was.
Some more....No minnows died in the taking of these crappies.
