Go back to mono, You will save rod tips, and a lot of Christmas trees and other manmade structures from being dragged away from original location. Braid is not good for Crappie fishing. My thoughts only. Sometimes, it is best to break off, if you can.

Boy I highly disagree with this, I have NOT broke any rods due to braid and pulled very few tops around due to it and I have been using it for 3 summers in which I may have lost 10 baits, I have lost 10 in one day pulling with mono.Quote:

Braid the s the only way to go. I use 20 lb braid and never broke a rod tip. Set your drag just tight enough where it won't pullout while your pulling the cranks so it'll peel off on a snag.

Cabelas. You can't google it tho. We use them pulling cranks for big walleye too. That's where I first learned about them. I use the 30lb size.

They have them with a swivel on them also.
Me thinks the ones with the swivel might be better because of line twist caused by slimers
the key to not loosing baits or breaking your poles is check your drag !! keep it set light and pay attention to your poles
Been told I keep my drag too tight before.. Curious how a loose drag will help. I am not above changing
If you are breaking rod tips you need to buy Wally Marshall Troll Teck rod by Lews. They won't break unless you get the braid wrapped around the tip then get hung
Don't have a problem with broken tips O/T the times I forget and pick up a fish wrong..I have 33 rods now...I ..don't plan on buying any more..have heard good things about the Troll Techs
