Heated Dock Question

Is Hillsdale the closest lake to Fort Leavenworth that has one? If not where is the closest one? For January where is the best place to bank fish? I have no boat and the cold,I hate, but will stand it in short spurts, lol! Thanks!

I have never been so i cant comment.

Winter bank fishing can be a little tough in my opinion.

My friend and I went friday to fish at smithville under W bridge. Seems like the fish were hugging the pillars and they werent too deep. Most fish felt like they were hitting in the 3 to 5 ft range. Cast to pillar slow retreive without hanging up. More short fish but he got 5 keepers and i got 6 keepers. Big fish was a lol over 10" most were right at 9 to 9.5".

Seems you arent too far from there. So thats my suggestion. Dont know what the cold front will do to the fish.

HD is the closest heated dock based on your vicinity. Melvern heated dock is the next closest. Pomona and Perry also have fair dock fishing, but both are all outdoors.

Thanks. Which is better?

I wonder if Perry has a heated dock.

Early AM in the outlet below the dam is not bad if they're running some water. The wind is low up by the wing walls

Not sure about Perry.

I prefer pomona docks @ lighthouse bay marina. Much better luck there.

I've fish docks at Rock Creek Marina and at Yacht Club. Both are open unheated docks. I've had luck bank fishing the Slough Creek Bridge and Hwy 92 Bridge with slip bobbers and jigs.

What time of year?

Melvern has a nice heated dock. Cost 6 bucks a day, fishing has been spotty, but you never know
