rods n reels

Can anyone recommend what rods and line counter reels to use for trolling for crappie ?

Depends on what trolling method....pulling or pushing crankbaits....or spider rigging jigs and or minnows....or long lineing jigs

Pulling cranks mostly.

Your going to hear a lot of different answers but this is what I have been pulling crankbaits with for past 8 years. BnM Pro Troller ( PST) rods......and Okuma MagnaPro 15 line counter reels.

Thanks for the info I like the okuma mags. I have them on my boat in mi but they are (30) series for salmon did not know they made a 15 .

Yes use different lengths.....I use 14 ft. 12 ft. 10 ft. and 8 ft.

i recommend the same as G but i use 4ft 10in,8ft,12ft,16ft rods on each side

4 foot difference in rods length sure makes a big difference. I run 18, 14, 10, and a 6 footer. If you aren't in a 20 foot rig the 18s can be a pain tho.

agreed ,i had a set of 18fters and sold them,:biggrin

16, 12, 8 and 4'10" is a real good combo for most any boat.

I just ordered the Diawa 17 Linecounters. Haven't been able to use them yet, but a friend uses them and he's a guide. So I figure they have to hold up pretty good.
