Went over it today. ..looked high already
Hope it's gone by the 2nd
That's a bunch of very warm water.
It is 219' now and rising like crazy. Where was everyone today? Fished Jordan with Simpleman. Nothing happening at Farrington (1), and not as bite at 64'
Went down to the dam area and caught a few, but spent most of the afternoon looking for brush pile. Oh did I mention that it was raining this morning?
We are all going to have to look for them on the 2nd for sure. Sure is going to be different fishing than it was last year at this time. This will make it interesting for sure! Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Why don't they let any water out? Seems to me they should want it low this time of year.
A little high water never hurt anybody... At least it's not flowing about ten knots!!
They will let it out but they will wait to see what happens down stream(Fayetteville and Elizabethtown)o they don't add to our problem. Jordan was built for flood control. We had a lot of rain in Fayetteville Yesterday and last night.
What I see for Jordan is 220 and Cape Fear in Fayetteville is 9' above norm. Cape fear is still rising.
The Haw River and Deep River join just a short ways below the Jordan dam to create the Cape Fear. The gates on Jordan are often closed to allow water to recede in Fayetteville and Wilmington. As was written, the lake is for flood control and the cities downstream have the priority. All this rain will definitely muddy up the Haw River arm and the S-Curves. Just checked and the lake is a little over 221.
I'm thinking the Greensboro/Burlington area got more rain then forecasted so that 224/225 may be conservative if its already at 221.
here is Jordan level - USGS Current Conditions for USGS 02098197 B. EVERETT JORDAN LAKE AT DAM NR MONCURE, NC
Here is what is coming into Jordan from the Haw (the biggest tributary) - USGS Current Conditions for USGS 02096960 HAW RIVER NEAR BYNUM, NC

here is what is coming down the Deep (meets the Haw below Jordan to form Cape Fear)- USGS Current Conditions for USGS 02102000 DEEP RIVER AT MONCURE, NC
Here is Cape Fear in Fayetteville - USGS Current Conditions for USGS 02104000 CAPE FEAR RIVER AT FAYETTEVILLE, NC
That makes sense. Didn't realize Fayetteville was under those conditions.
Cape Fear 17' above normal 9pm 12-23
As of 0800. 225.16
ok guys what is the latest info?
Wow ! Army Corps of engineers predicts Jordan to be at 230 on Sunday ! Currently at 227.5
All boat ramps on Jordan Lake closed. Ebenezer ramps under water. Robeson Creek canoe launch also.closed. it ain't good boys!
Gona be tough next Saturday boys better bring your a game
More rain predicted for midweek.
Farrington closed as well?
All ramps closed. I just drove across Jordan on 64. The Water There is up in the parking lot.
Anyone heard anything on Harris?
Have not. Will be down that way deer hunting tomorrow and will check it out.
This sucks. I was planning on going tomorrow.
Does anyone have an update are the ramps still all closed?
down here it has rained 71.29 inches this yr and more on the way. rained so much down the cape fear that it has raised the ocean level by 2 ft/
I don't understand why they are closing the ramps. If the parking area is flooded I could see that or if the lake level is lower than the end of the ramp. But I can launch a boat without a pier. Just doesn't make sense to me.
The docks at Ebenezer were partially underwater. The docks at seaforth were folded up sorta. I assume it's a safety thing. Also a lot of debris floating around. Gotta watch out for the knuckleheads I guess.
The Ramps at Falls Lake (6 Forks) are flooded as well but people are still launching.
Guess harris will be popular. Small drainage area and fixed crest dam vs flood control dam
Current Jordan Lake level 20151226 6pm: 228.9 and rising. Looking at previous high water mngmnt history, and rain forecated (~1"), I predict the level for the tourney will be 225-227. Two reasons...
1...Jordan Lake is more than a foot higher than it has been in at least 8 years. In that span, the lake level has not been dropped more than 5' in 7 days (2010Feb, 2012March, 2013June). So if Jordan Lake crests @229, then it can be assumed the level cannot drop below 224 by 20160102.
2...A secondary peak during a 2013July high water period appears to show the effect of an additional rain. There is an addtnl 1" of rain predicted between now and the second. Any more rain at this point will delay Jordan's decent if not rebound the level slightly.
At what lake level are the ramps re-opened? Will that be the factor determining whether the tourney is a go?
Merry new year!
Jeremy
......or switch to Harris?
How many boat ramps are at Harris? I know about one off HWY 42, and have been told that there's another one but never have been able to find it. I'm a bank fishing person, so, you know... but I've been told that there are times when just fishing near this OTHER boat ramp is really good for crappie fishing. Flatfoot
It's off Bartley Holloman Rd.
Very nice ramp it has a fishin pier at it paved parking lot with lights
