Good to my shiners

I bought a half a pound of shiners 4 weeks ago. I take them to the lake every weekend and troll'em around for hours... haven't put one on a hook yet. Then I take them back home and throw them back in the vat

I took my brother in law Sunday we kept 44 with the biggest being 2.2lbs his personal best! Way to go JB[emoji471] He said he couldn't wait to eat that rascal

Hey why stop if its workin. I wouldnt even take shiners if I had that cranking technique down like you do.
I like to use that line..I find it pretty amusing even if nobody else does...when somebody pulls up and asks "You catching any" I say - "No just taking my shiners for a walk"

Thats it.....are those colors bandit colors??? my water temp was 64....found the bait fish....and nada...went from crawling slow to 2.1.......you my hero......

Yes they are bandits
The mad cow is white with black spots like a Holstein cow
Crossbreed is a bass on one side and a blue gill on other

That's awesome! It took me a while to figure out that u were actually catching on crank baits...so interesting! Are u fishing like a bass fisherman would or are u trolling...??? Just curious! Whatever your doing, keep it up...I like the reports!

Trolling multiple lines at once. .. most of time it's a crappie combine

That there is a fine mess of fish fer sure

Come down South and give a seminar on cranking Henderson. Curious is we have any territory down here that would work for that.

I would love to check Henderson out!

I have caught them on cranks every place I've tried it

Man that is awesome! Thanks for the report and picture! If you come down south, I would attend that seminar! Got me some cranks but haven't tried them out yet. How do you keep them at a certain depth? I know they run different depths but to keep them at 15 or more feet you have to be doing something different? Sorry for all the questions but you seem to be the master of this cranking style!

The cranks are trolled behind the boat with various amounts of line out until you find the depth and speed they want it at.
I use a chart to get the right depth for the fish im marking on depth finder

And that chart is figured at a trolling speed of 1.6 to 1.8 mph

Thats right....the white crappie stay out in open water more

Yes whites seem to be easier to catch
With that being said the last couple of months I have been trying to target the blacks they require a different set of variables

tgte, man you're killing me with these cranking reports. I've been inspired to give a try on Lake Erling were I usually do pretty well in the summertime cranking. Last Saturday morning I lost 3 crank baits trying to get down to 14 or so feet, Erling is full of stumps and laydowns and I usually only run 4 poles when I'm by myself because of that. Water temp was around 56 degrees I tried making S curves back and forth across the various channels never caught a fish that way. Finally trolled the flats around 12 to 13 ft deep in 14 to 18 fow and picked up 2 Saturday morning and 2 Sunday morning, they were nice fish but that was it. I talked to a few people jigging the channel drop offs and they weren't doing much good either. Is it stumpy where you're trolling? Keep up the good work!

Most of the structure is man made ...very few stumps with lots of depth changes
