I use the same stuff. U haveta watch where you put yo hands after rubbing on some capsaicin. I also take tylenol. Not much relief with any of it though.
I do not have arthritis very bad according to doctors. But I still physically work hard and am getting wore down now at 57 and hurt all the time. I have to take something everyday to keep going.I mix it up with Aleve liquid gels,Advil Liquid Gels,Tylenol and excedrin.I change once in awhile in hopes to reduce any long term effects from one particular drug. I also have muscle pain and recently started using Aspercream. It has helped me about as much as anything. You might try soaking your feet in epsom salts. It is an old remedy not necessarily for arthritis but they say the magnesium has some miracle properties.God bless.
WATCH your diet.Sometimes certain foods and drinks can aggrevate it.You have to figure out which ones. Some foods that have anti-inflammatory qualities may help.
beer is good fer it
Aleeve works for me. I do not take it daily though.
Try milk to cool down the burn. If milk works when eating hot pepper (capsaicin) so it should work for the hands also.:twocents

if you truly have arthritis, you need to go to a rhematologist. I have a pretty bad case and the medication they have available now is totally different than what was available years ago. real arthritis will not be helped by over the counter medicines and herbs and you don't need to try to treat it yourself.
There is not much available for osteoarthritis. Arthritis, Osteoarthritis Treatments to Try Now - AARP
Big difference between the type arthritis a person may have.
Wife has it pretty good, and she uses a product called Real Time Pain Relief (RTPRdotcom) and says she gets good results from it. Mine is not as bad as her, so some ibuprofen works for me, but I don't take it daily. I usually snap, crackle and pop in the morning, but it usually quietens down as the day goes along.
When my hands start hurting a little I mix up some mustard, ketchup and cayenne pepper and use it on sandwiches. It helps. It is the pepper that does the trick but cannot take it straight.
Drink Pickle Juice...about two tablespoons a day.
I'm with Bill Bob. I have multiple fractures and injuries from many years of not talking care of myself like I should have. Arthritis has invaded all weaker areas of my body. Anti inflammatory meds such as naproxen are a big help but I haven't found any thing that gives relief like alcohol preferably Jim Beam.:Rofl If I hada know I was gonna live this long I woulda took better care of myself when I was young Yeah!!!
One tablespoon of raw honey, preferably locally produced, and one teaspoon of cinnamon on a piece of toast or in a cup of coffee every morning is a real good natural anti inflammatory.
My VA doctor says I have osteoarthritis and it's showing up in all those places I have damaged throughout my working career. So much for "walk it off" when those bumps and bruises and breaks happened back then. First...Meloxicam...swear it was a placebo...did absolutely nothing to help. Then Salsalate. S'posed to be much better. Nothing...no help at all. I think they're giving me sugar pills. Aleve does more but they advise against a lot of that because of liver damage over time. What's a guy (or gal) to do? Just grin, or wince, and bear it I guess?
I wake up every morning hurting like U no what. I have tried all the OTC meds. Tumeric spice is the only thing that helped me.
Google It up,
The meloxicam helped for awhile, but now it does nothing. I'm taking Aleve, which does help some, but only at higher doses. Going to the doc in a few weeks and we're gonna have a talk. Some days my hands hurt so much I can't stand to touch them, much less try to grip anything.
I'll check on the turmeric, thanks trypman1.
long, steamy hot showers first thing in the morning......or....go fishing......when I am fishing, nothing in my body hurts.....true......doctor said just go fishing more often......I luv my doctor.....tylenol helps when not fishing......

I will start off by saying I am a 56yr old landscaper. Last year I started having sharp pains in both shoulders, my family doc sent me to a surgeon ,actually I saw him the week before I was going to go fly fishing in Ky, He diagnoist Me as having digenrative arthrithus and told Me 4 out of 5 surgeons would operate on Me but then again they make a lot more money per year then he does, but he was here to tell Me that for a 56 yr old man I was in good shape and to suck it up and live with it, he could do things to help the pain but other than that I should try to bare the pain, I thanked him for the honest advise and asked if I could fish that weekend, ironcally He was a huge ly fisherman and recommended watching some guys videos on You tube that helped handycapped fisherman

This is what I use with great results,
Google Chinese herbs for the arthritis, sometimes they have teas with a blend of herbs or they blend them for you, won't hurt to look.
Just be careful with many of these drugs, the side effects outweigh the disease, many times. Ever really listen to some of these commercials, SCARY!!
Tylenol and Ibuprofen are bad for the liver and the relief doesn't last all night. Beer is not good for your liver either but sure helps a guy sleep Try a magnesium supplement most of us do not get enough follow with a beer chaser I'm 47 and my knees are shot. My sister has had 3 knee surgerys the last was a complete replacement She is 48
Vonna, it may be time for cortisone shots. Works for me in my wrist and hands and fingers. Stings when you get them though. And they last pretty good.
Also had bad pain in all my joints, nothing helped much. Finally one Dr. ran some tests and said your arthritis is not the main prob......you're allergic to gluten. They are inflaming your joints. So I got off gluten and it's made a world of difference.

Vonn, I use a liniment called Bigeloil. Active ingredient is Menthol. It's almost instant (but short term relief). Stinks like the dickens and you don't want to get it near your hoo hoo. Horse racing crowd uses it. I don't know what the long term results are but I sure am quicker out of the gate!:biggrin
Hope your feeling better !:pray
If your hands are REALLY hurting you may have CTS, carpal tunnel syndrome. When my CTS got so bad that it was waking me up at night I finally got it taken care of! Just a thought!
Osteo Bi Flex triple strength helped me.
Take one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of Welch's grape juice, and mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some water and drink it. Do this once a day and you should get better. This has worked for a lots of people that I know.
