Stump I have seen it before and it is suppose to be true. Bass pro also bought ranger boats a while back. Business must be good.
Yep, pretty sure it's true. Always liked Cabela's better though.
That's good news for anyone that lives near a cabelas store. As far as I'm concerned that one in Greenville is a bust. Prices are crazy high and I don't do much steelhead or walleye fishing. I understand paying a little more for a good selection but they don't even have that. A little more. Not four times as much as the store across the street. Personally bass pro seemed to always have what people in the southeast use.
The same way I feel also REELDAWG. I hope they still build the new basspro on 101.
My guess would be they remodel the cabelas in Greenville. Either way, I'm excited.
Most big companies when they buy company # 1 , #2 #3 etc never shut down the company they just purchased .It just makes the roll of money for them bigger and bigger .
. Most likely both stores will stay open . Most people never know who the owners are
Bass Pro Shops buys Ranger, Stratos and Triton
Well, I'm a little different from you guys. Stores like Bass Pro and Cabelas aint anything more than eye candy tor me. Prices can be beat over the 'net and personally I prefer supporting the Mom and Pop shops whenever I can. It has been a few years since I've even been inside a Basws Pro store and I dont have any plans in the near future to visit one. I'll spend my dollars at the Iva Sportsman Pne Stop store first. Hate hearing this might cost some people their jobs though.
I WENT TO CABELAS HERE IN GREENVILLE
FOR THE FIRST TIME 3 WEEKS AGO AND ITS A LITTLE TO MUCH FOR ME ACADAMY IS MORE MY SPEED.
I ALSO LIKE THE ONE STOP IN IVA
THEY HAVE A GOOD SELECTION FOR A SMALL SHOP
PRICES ARENT BAD EITHER.
As a buisness owner myself I would much rather my local. The thing is I mainly striper and saltwater fish. The draw for me is that the large satires help make it a one stop for stuff I would otherwise have to order. I'm also anal about fishing rods. Won't buy one without putting my hands on it. Sportsman one stop carries lots of bps products, don't they? Different strokes for different folks. It's what makes the world go round.
The smaller stores are great around here and they get most of my dollars. I do enjoy window shopping to and those big stores have a lot of dressing to see. The one thing I do like about them is being able to put my hands on some of the items I'm in need of at different times. When you can go into either store and get what you may need for "hunting, fishing, boating, camping, saltwater gear, hiking, did I miss anything, yes tying? My every day support goes to my local tackle shops as they also support me. But sometimes I think we all want to see a little lace :)
I LIKE LACE :biggrin:yikes
Oh, I really enjoy going in those stores. I just dont normally spend much of my money there. I'll try to spread my money farther at Academy or buy over the 'net.
My neighbor works for cabelas. I was told today that bps was going to buy a large portion of the stocks. They are not going to change Greenville to a bps. It's too small. They are going to have cabrlas carry bps product. So the inside will be just like a bps as far as product goes.
There could be some good deals on some Cabelas brand merchandise if the deal goes through and they do carry some good quality stuff under their brand label. The Cabelas does have a small fishing section compared to a BPS so I am hoping they expand their selection. Both are too high, but I think Cabelas generally has some better sales and you can get some good deals on line in the bargain cave at times.
The bargain cave is the first place I go to in the store! LOL
I've bought a lot of gear from Cabelas thru the mail over the years. But I have to say they totally missed the mark with the fishing section at the Greenville store. Somebody in marketing should have investigated how we fish and what we fish for in all these lakes and reservoirs. Gear in that store is crazy high. Academy is much better for a big store. Another finely stocked small store is Lake Hartwell Fishing and Marine. This is the old Garretts. At times I find items in LHFM that are priced even better than Academy! No joke. Good folks too. And Ethanol free gas!
