Just barely bumped a stump on Truman lake and it broke a tooth on the gear set of the lower unit. Got it apart and waiting on the insurance guy to take a look at it. Prop shows no damage but it is a stainless steel prop. Hope it goes ok with him. Attachment 220020Attachment 220021Attachment 220022

Check your shaft to make sure its not bent!!!!
That is no "stump bump". Sure it hadn't hit something in the near past????
Cracks can occur and not cause a problem until later when they grow.
That's what I am thinking also Mike, because it was just a love tap that we hit.

I broke one like that on Truman and didn't even hit a stump, the tooth locked the lower unit up. Right when it happened it started snowing and by the time I trolled to the nearest ramp I had three inches of snow on the boat. Talking about a bad day!!!!!!
Hope insurance covers it.
Insurance man called and said they are going to cover it. That's a relief.
