Kayak Trip Report, Indian Creek

I fished Indian Creek this morning from 7:30 till a little after lunch. I primarily spent some time learning my new fish finder. I caught zero fish from the laydowns, but I found lots of submerged brush in between what was visible on the surface. Most held a Crappie or two. I kept half a limit, but caught 50 or 60 for the morning. Best bait was a black and white (tuxedo shimmer) Bobby Garland on a 1/16oz jig head. Fish were 10 to 14 feet deep, all on the down current side of the brush. Water was clear with visibility down three to four feet and a temperature of 55 degrees.

I've got a new fish finder that allows me to see the bottom and any brush below me better.

It opened up a new world this morning! With my old unit I might have found half of what I fished.

will it display graph and speed at the same time?

It will give a split screen to watch for what's below you while tracking you on an overlay of the lake with any waypoints you've added. I've just started learning how to use it, but so far so good. I marked a stump at Ditto, paddled away and then tracked back to it with the GPS close enough to hang it spider rigging again and again. I plan to make a lot of stumps while the water is low this winter! :biggrin

Did you just use the transducer that came with it ditch and what do you use to mount the transducer?
