Do any of yall ever fish St. John for crappie
Andrew, looks like you're a new member so I want to welcome you to Crappie Dot Com. Being you're asking about Lake St. John I assume you live near there. You could help us help you by letting us know a little about yourself and where you live. Although I live far from the lake I've passed by it several times and have wondered as you to the fishing there. Hopefully you will get an answer soon.

I live there and I fish it everyday I catch on average 10 a evening jigging with black & charturse is my go to color. I also catch them on electric chicken. I have kids, wife, and work so I'm limited to how long I can fish. The fishing is hard but the lake has produced some slabs for me. When I figure this forum out I will post some pics of fish and my set up.
One of the easiest ways of posting pictures is to open a PhotoBucket account. There you can save all your pictures to document your fishing and then post the ones you want to hear. Catching 10 in an evening is not bad at all. You are doing better than most. I love evening fishing but I fish mostly with the wife and she doesn't like being out on the water near dark. Good luck and keep us posted.

I fish deer park, old river, Larto, black river, tensas river, Wallace, tue lake, and tons of bar pits in that area. My wife is from Monroe so I'm about to start fishing in that area during the holidays. If any info is available for that area would be appreciated, I'm looking for local in the north east area, not dar bone or any place like that. Thanks for the help
Welcome to the forum! Lots of information on here. Sorry I know nothing about your lake as I live about 180 miles northwest of you.
Thanks for the help I will get a photo bucket account and post pics when I get in my office. I do not mind sending pics to a cell phone if any one is interested in my set ups structure ect.

I've fished up there several times, just to easy to walk out the back door or within a hour I could be in 10 different lakes. Thanks for the invite.
Boy I wish I had your problem, hmmm where do I fish today. I'll send you a private message with my cell number. If you look at the top menu bar you will see "private message". It's right under "FORUM". Click on it and it will take you to the message board where you should find my message with my number.

I've been communicating with Josh and he sent me some pictures to post until he can get up to speed. Boy does he live in a paradise, it's right out his back door. He fishes some structure he has put out and also fishes at night under a green light. He does his best to rid the lake of large predators to keep them from eating the slabs. Do you agree with me that he has his own little paradise. Here are a few of the picts he sent me.

Andrew, it looks like you got this crappie fishing figured out. Welcome to the Louisiana forum. I haven't fished Lake St. John in many years, but mu father-in-law and I used to go and wear them out. We mostly fished the boat houses on the side of the lake opposite of the store and boat launch. However, there were a few boat houses on the other side we fished also. By the time I met him my father-in-law had been fishing St. John so long that he knew which boat houses would hold fish and which ones didn't. So, we would just move around from one boat house to another until we had all of the fish we wanted to clean for the day. That is a beautiful lake. Back when we fished it, it had some of the biggest bluegills I have ever seen in it and had one very nice population of catfish. Many moons ago my brother and I spent the weekend down there. We hung out yo-yos hoping to catch crappie, but could not keep the 1-3 lb. catfish off of them.
You have sparked my interest again and dug up all kinds of memories. All good! Thanks.
Definitely can't call you new with catches like that! :) Welcome to the forum man!
Very nice pictures! Thanks for posting them for him Gene.
It is still full of catfish and bream, the bream are not as big as they were then. I have heard stories just like you said. I have been catching fish in boat houses and the trees also. All these fish didn't come out of St. John. This will be my 2nd yr fishing for perch I've learned slot on trial and error and reading forums. I also fish for them everyday.
Great pics. I've never fished there, but have talked about it many times. I have an uncle that used to go to someones camp over there; they would catch catfish at night until you were too tired to continue.
I caught a few yesterday on black and chartreuse jig, do y'all use tube jigs or the bobby garland? I have both but I seem to do better on the tube every were I fish. What are y'all's thoughts on why
Slabber knocker... way to go
You can easily post pics without photo bucket......go to the Newby board at top of forum index page and read my sticky at top of the page.....its easy to do. Its a lot easier than photo bucket too.
