Lake Diaz Slabtogether 12/12/15 Changing it up read carefully please

Slabtogether:fish 12/12/15 fruit jar for heaviest 5 and big fish $10.00/$5.00. 1 winner for big fish and paying 3 places for heaviest 5 - 60% 30% 10%. All fish weighed must be alive and healthy and released after weigh in:ThumbsUp. If you want to eat it or it is dead do not weigh it:Doh:. Weigh in will be 12:00 noon to 12:30 pm. This is a small lake and we do not want to hurt the resource so please limit the number of fish kept:pray. Launch and weigh in here

Darn, I was going to try to make this because there is zero bite in the backyard right now. I might just go down there anyway. Can anyone tell me anything about the lake? Depth? Water clarity etc?

Funny how everyone was game for it until I changed to to catch and release. Guess its easier to preach than practice!

Mike I doubt your change to "catch and release" was the major factor in folks not showing much interest (I think 3 folks responded here). I can only speak for myself but as a non fish eating fisherman, "catch and release" is pretty much 99.9% of my norm. I can say though to some degree that maybe the choice of the very small lake came into the picture more than the added wrinkle, if you consider catch and release a wrinkle.

Than again maybe some show up to these fests planning on keeping their fish and in that case, yes I can see why they may wanted to have skipped by this one.

At the time you stated the catch and release, IMO it didn't seem like a deal breaker.

I for one was going to wait and see the folks intending on attending, basing my decision on the total number of boats anticipated. The only concern I had was the size of the lake. Your added idea this past weekend came across as nothing short of a deal maker to me..............and Ill always try and support folks who show honest concern about a lakes stock.

I also believe alot of folks may be looking toward Crescent anywhere from December 1st thru March which also may be coming into the picture.

It was a good thought Mike............. even though the lake was small you came up with a super idea to possibly limit the pressure. Hats off to you my friend and let it roll off your back :)

It is a clear tannin stained lake, a couple good fields of pads, some shoreline laydowns and brush, a couple old fish attractors on north shore mid lake about 100 yards off pad line. Depth is average 12' - 15'. Couple small creeks feed into and 1 out. Few houses on it.

Mike, your c+r was fine with me just couldn't commit yet on that date. I'm like you, I will be fishing somewhere that day if I can.

Geeezz this thing has found it's way down the rabbit hole:yikes...only speaking for myself I usually will not know how my on-call status will be until a couple weeks out from most events, but the 12th morning is good for me & I'll note that the 1st thing that got me involved in CDC was to fish new lakes.....so why not Diaz.....I can still remember when this whole slab-together thing started a "wise old salt" stated there is no reason why any big productions have to be made to fish with friends....any-hoo I'll fish it Mike, barring any acts of God......just thoughts..no offense intended

I got to plead stupidity. I never look at the top of the page very often. I'm interested. That's what - 3 weeks away? I think I can do that. I haven't fished it in 15 years so a re-introduction is in order. I'll try to keep better track of things.
