Never had to use mine. Knock on wood.:biggrin
I have 2, one at my feet when driving and one in a side compartment that easy to get to. A good reminder to check to see if it's still in compliance.

mine is in a front storage compartment I placed it there because its the farthest place from the fuel tank and the motor my thoughts are if there is a fire it will most likely be around the back of the boat where the fuel and batteries and motor are located .
I have never had any fires aboard my boat Knocking on wood also
but I have been so cold That i wish i had a small fire to warm my hands after getting a shiner out of COLD water I'm thinking of getting me one of them Little buddy heaters and try it this winter up front I have a friend at work who told me he has used one and it is great for your hands
Always had one on my boat but thankfully never had to use it......I did see one guy out fishing one day using his on the electronics on the bow of the boat.....need to check the expiration date on mine......
My fire extinguisher is right beside my right knee as I am sitting at the steering wheel. Like most fishermen, I have never had to use mine and I pray that I never do. I really should think about getting one for my truck. You just never know when one might come in handy. Might need to knock a possum in the head. :Rofl
In boat under middle seat. One in my truck, one in Ann's jeep. Two in my shop, one in the kitchen.
I bought a project boat from a guy to help him out.He was in a bind. Decided to run it in the yard. Well, he failed to tell me about the gas leak. Had to use the ext. and a water hose to put it out. Cost more to fix it than I paid for it. Melted stuff on the motor. I fixed it and sold it with out ever using it. I lost $300 on that one. Man ,I can really deal!!
Mine is strapped to the side of the boat under the console. Came w/ the boat 22 yrs ago. Never touched it....guess I better check it, Huh? Thanks for the tip, jig rig!
Ditto on that, glad JR posted this for some that may be unaware. I'm big on safety, seen my share of deaths and dismemberments in my line of work first hand in all the years I have done this. For the longest time, Ann would not leave the coffee pot plugged in while we're gone from home. She does now, I'm semi-okay with that. I still won't leave my battery chargers/maintainers plugged in the boat and utility cart though. If there's a 0.01 % of something going bad while not a home, not going to do it.
And you need to learn how to use them, especially the small ones because they don't have much in them. You need to use them in short burst thus doubling, tripling and quadrupling their effect. Same goes for the big ones but especially for the little ones.

Got them in the house, truck and workshop...........but, can't find a place to mount one on my kayak...........what? Juuuuuuust Kiddddddding.
I suspect most of them are dry chemical extinguishers. Many places recommend that you shake dry chemical extinguishers monthly, to ensure the powder doesn't pack in one area.
