We are headed to fish Crappie at Rocky Fork this weekend and am looking for any resent reports
Had plans to fish else where..... Depends on what this rain does to it though..... If it's blowed out Rocky Fork is plan-B ...... May see ya Sunday
We will be in a Red tracker with a 50 merc if You make it, give a shout out James
Will do buddy...... We'll be the midget and the squatch in the stratos ...... Was wanting to fish Ohio River tribs..... Not so sure what they'll be like after that rain
Rain didn't hurt them down here in my part of the country. Water is in good shape.
Fishing was easy catching was tougher, 60 degree stained water and a nice breeze and We fished for Crappie just about anyway a Man can, the ones We found where 11"+ and seemed be in around 10ft of water although We marked plenty deeper, they prefered jigs with nibbles to minnows. Had a good time doing some late Fall camping, nothing like huddling around a fire under a star lit sky throwing back a few cold ones with a old friend.
Speckwick and I fished from about 7:30am to dark 11/8/2015 at RF..... Caught fish 7 to 10 ft deep early morn till early eve..... Found shallow fish late in the day ...... Swimming jigs, slip floating minnows and jig-n-bobber all produced.... Caught some real nice ones and had pretty respectible numbers...... Caught them any where from 1ft to 10ft deep...... Found two main like spots that produced well.... Other than those two spots had to keep moving..... Few here few there..... Couldn't sit to long in one place.
We made it to Highland as well. I thought JGJ was there, but didn't look like his son, so we kept moving. Arrived around 10:30 and out around 3:30. Marked fish/caught a few, marked fish/caught a few, marked fish/caught a few, marked fish/caught a few, seemed to be the pattern. Trees were loaded with nursery fish. Lake points and ledges held the bigger fish for us. Used bobber/minnow the first half and deeper fishing later. Had a good looking Lucky Bucket but was lazy and let them free at the dock. Crappie, Gills, Perch and Rock Bass. First Rock Bass I caught in years.
Awesome day to be on the water with the wife.

That was you in the smoker craft Herb?
Nice fish Herb. I'd like to have a bucket of perch like that.
Nice report guys.
Next time I am there I am following all the Stratos and Smoker crafts, We did catch a perch, a white bass and a sunny, the Crappie were all blacks and thick ones.
Tom513..... Bite was a little silly..... Had to keep moving.....
lol...Yes, a poor boys old smoker craft. We don't get to fish this lake often, so I thought we did good. My partner with 5 layer of clothes was cold....
(but she outlasted the boys we didn't see on the lake)
Eh the fish don't care what kinda boat you got........ Last boat I had was a tiller model smoker craft ....... At times I still wish I had it...... Was a good boat ...... Like having a bass boat though.......
True dat, I had a 1968' 12.5ft fiberglass tri haul 9.5 hp evenrude that started my love affair with Crappie fishing, talked my wife into selling Our camper that we never had time to use anymore to finance the new boat with the agreement that I would take Her fishing, and I must say I like taking her but shes not good with cold weather, I work 60 to 70 hours a week in Spring and Summer but still make time to get on the water one day a week.
