Who makes the best rain gear ?
Georgia-Pacific. 30 tear asphalt shingles. Stay inside when it's raining. Just kidding, I am looking forward to the real answers my self. I have some frogg toggs. Good enough to get to cover if it's not far. But not good enough for fishing in for several hours. Danny
I have a set of BP 100 mph, I would buy them again. My fishing partner has the BP Pro Qualifier, they are good also, I would probably buy the pro qualifiers to save some money, really not much difference that we can tell.
BamaS talks about the artic armor, I think they would need to be checked out also before you pull the trigger!
Cabelas Guide Wear or something like that. I have a set from Bass Cat and am well please with them, got lucky and found em used. Got em on right now!
anyone tried the academy rain gear(h20 express),i need to buy something better one of these days
Fishing Outerwear | Academy
Cabela's guidewear or Basspro 100 mph.... I've had both and both are excellent.
Feelay, which would you buy again..which is warmer
Both are comparable
All I will say is Bass Pro 100 MPH gear is worn by the guys on Deadliest Catch while fishing the Bering Sea in the winter.
I would check into the warranty on both the 100 mph and the guidewear also.
I use Artic Armor......thanks to BamaS
Man. I had a major change of heart on rain gear this past spring when mother nature forced a true hurricane test on me and my partner. It rained 3 inches in 30 minutes on us during a spring trip on Truman Lake. The bilge pumped for an hour after it quit raining. I put on Cabela guide gear and my partner put on Frog Togg. I was soaked and he was bone dry. What happens is the outer layer becomes sooo saturated that it then compresses the waterproof membrane against the inner garments. The membrane can only work if there is an air gap if not then it actually wicks the moisture in instead of out. Since the Frog Toggs did not have an outer layer my buddy stayed dry as bone. I will never go anywhere without a set of plain toggs. Sometimes cheaper is better. They are not as comfortable or good looking but they are drier. If you notice when the storms get real bad those crabbers are wearing nothing but old school rubber slickers. No moisture getting in or out.
Cabela's guide wear never gotten wet with them on !!!!! .
I guess im just a little smart than yall when I see a storm coming I crank the boat up put it on the trailer and wait for it to pass then go back out fishing
Got soaked in my froggs this spring in a steady, but not hard, rain this spring. Leaked in the seams in the butt after an hour or so.
Yep Toggs leak & soak. OK for a summer time shower. BP runs small. CABELAS way to go
Columbia PFG. Professional Rain Gear
I have the Toggs and the Guide Wear. No comparison. Guide Wear from Cabela's is the way to go. The Toggs are OK for light summertime showers when you don't mind getting a bit wet anyway. The 100 mph stuff is also nice. My Guide Wear is insulated and way to hot for warmer temps.
I do have the newer Toggs jacket and it's a lot better than their cheaper stuff. I think they call it TOADZ.
I just returned a pair of Columbia Insulated Omni bibs. they were probably 12 yrs old. The leg zipper was broke and the suspenders were worn out. Columbia sent me a NEW pair. So I was impressed with their CS. And they kept me dry when hunting. Just thought I would throw that out there.
Ok, I'm gonna add a comment here, fished in some pretty bad weather yesterday in our tourney on Grenada. Wore a set of Toggs Toads rain gear. Rained all day and cold hard wind. Not a drop of water got inside them but they are not as BigRiver said for that kind of weather. Would be great in milder weather but not so much in cold. Shame on me because I sure wasn't dressed for it either. I am sure if I had long johns or a sweatshirt and sweat pants on it would have been better. Another negative on them for me is the fly is set to high and you to take the jacket off in the rain to get the bib's low enough to take care of business.
Saturday was a good field test, I was not wet till we started in and took a swell over the bow. The wetness yall saw on me was the result of the water that went in my hood I had on and then down my back, up until then I was good other than my knees where my bibs are worn.
Frabill has some very good rain gear
Also go with Bass Pro 100 mph. It u go with the Bass Pro buy the insert for warmth.

I have no complaints except the price with the 100 mph suit. Dry, comfy, and as the name says its wind proof. If I wasn't going to fish more than once or twice a year in the rain I would consider wearing a pair of waders. That's what my partner does
