I am moving from a jon boat where I could reach down and lip a fish to a decked boat where I am going to need a long handled net. I am looking for suggestions. As with all my projects cost is a factor.

EGO NETS is all you need
Depends on which method you will using most of the time. For casting and single-poling, the Ego Reach will be fine. If you will be spiderrigging with 14' or longer poles, go with the Crappiemasters net. That thing will reach out and get em!
Just add on a handle(broom handle,sch.40 PVC pipe, extending painter's roller handle, etc.) to the net you have already.:twocents
I am not really sure if I need the longer net but I am leaning that way. I have googled "crappiemasters net" and only found a seemingly dead website - Mengo Ind - which has no reference to the net. Could you provide a source?
That is what I have now. I took a pool cleaning pole and inserted my short handled net in the end. It works well enough but I fear the handle will separate and I will lose the net and a fish. So I would like something a bit more reliable.
I also want a rubber net rather than the nylon string net I am using so as to reduce the time it takes to get a hook out of the netting.
EGO Reach rubber net extends to 8'6"
cost bout $50
Ego Rubber
EGO reach, easy to handle by yourself. Some of those nets takes 2 hands to handle.
x2 on the EGO
I'm afraid that if I bought a new fancy Ego net that murphy would show up. I took about a 3' long 1" oak dowel to the router table and cut a shoulder on it allowing it to go into the bottom of a 8$ wally net, making the handle between 4 and 5 feet. That was at least 5 years ago. Being hardwood it's strong without being overly heavy, and with the handle forward when trailering or running it doesn't fly around. Net forward and things change. Tried one with a broom handle a while before I made this one and it was so light that it flew out somewhere on the way to the lake. I know that I'll have to replace this one soon but it just won't die. 2nd net on this frame.
