OK I am going to put up a date and see if we can plan toward it. How about we meet at Larry Koon Landing on Shull Island, Lake Murray and fish from 7 until 12:30? Larry Koon Landing
We can take out and be at Price's BBQ in about 10 minutes from the landing.
I will keep and eye on the weather and any fishing reports and will pass them on.
So, how many are in (or hope to be) for this event.
Remus, your boat seat is reserved iffin you can make it.

I usually start fishing murray about the first of dec, I'll have to see what is going on that day when it gets closer.
as of right now I don't see any dr. apt no vacation no company coming no honey does and the nightmare in Remusville is over
so that being said iffin my heart is still beating, I don't go blind, or my truck tears up and don't have a pair of shoes that wont be worn out when I get there walking I will be there. SO HOLD THAT SEAT FOR UNCLE REMUS :biggrin

sorry I will not be able to make it. I have a standing 5:00am medical for dialysis 3 times a week (Mon, Wen, Fri)

FYI. There is a striper tourny that weekend on Murray. There are around 150 pro division boats and 75 open boats. Most will be on the water prefishing that week. "Striped Bass Challange". Might want to change lakes.
Well we can't avoid other events it seems. Got a Bass Tourney on Secession Saturday along with us. Just something we have to live with I guess, but the whole idea behind this was the guys wanted to fish Murray. If it seems that Larry Koon Landing will be slammed, I have a friend who owns Siesta Cove Marina which is nearby. I am sure he would accommodate us. He does charge a launch fee and his marina is not a large as Koons but it would handle us easily. If need be I will change to him, we'll see.
10-4. The tourny is out of dreher island. Koons should be just fine for you guys. Hope the crowd doesn't bother y'all. Either way it's a day on the lake. :)
I'll try to be there. Have to check with my social director of 46 years to see if we will be here or at the beach.

We will launch at 7 am, come out at 12:30 and eat at Prices BBQ Buffet,which is about 5 minutes from the landing. How about a head count. I think Ron and John are coming and Uncle Remus is fishing with me. How about you local guys, y'all got kitchen passes??

This time of year the perch tend to bunch up and are fun to catch. Stripers are also in the upper end of the lake where we will be, so may see some schooling activity. Love for somebody to show me how to catch crappie on Murray. Other than brush piles I have had no luck tight lining or long lining for them.
For the perch, easiest to find them tight lining minnows, then drop a spoon down if you get into a school of them. The screen shots that Eatmorecrappie has been posting are most likely perch in the area where we will fish.
Was hoping CrappieBuster could join us as he is pretty good on the crappie, but that job and new baby thing came up.

Don't know if they will hold in the same area, but my buddy Jeff went it the rain and wind Monday and got into a school of Stripers and in the same school he caught big White Perch and some Crappie, catfish and LM Bass. Here is the best part, he saw the Stripers breaking water on top and got into this school of mixed fish in.........6 feet of water. Wild huh??

Hey guys, when you come down for the Dec 4th outing, be sure to bring a Stiper rod with a top water plug. The schooling activity has picked up a good bit in the upper part of the lake.
I was going to do that! I hope to hang a Hawg it's been to long since the last time. LOL
I said a top water plug, but a spoon or crank bait would work too. Just need one heavy enough to reach a school without having to drive to close to them. Always irritates me to see some yahoo run right into the middle of the school and send them running. Wondered if they were from PETA???
I recommend that the event be held on Saturday, December 5th so that those of us who still work can join in.
Problem is, I work on Saturday, off Fridays. Sitting at my desk at the moment as I type this. We have plenty of Saturday outings too, just thought I'd put this together for any that want to come.
