Southern Crappie Rods Southerncrappierods.com Store
Call Ed Duke and he will fix you up with your trolling rods. I used Diawa 1000B reels that you can find great deals on EBAY.
My setup is from 16,14,12,10,8,6,6,6 foot down both sides of the and across the back.
What CG said and I'll only add pinnacle limited Rods work well also, But for the money southerns are the best....
Brett, you can tell her I need 2 ten foot, 2 eight foot B&M rods for the bow of my boat. They are the best quality for this area. They aren't to much in cost either, she can find them under 39 bucks. These rods will fill in on the 24 foot Spread already in place with tight lock rod holders. These rods will increase my sturdy arsenal with the ability to lift hefty size crappies in to my boat with aide of a new net. She will absolutely thrill me this year if she comes through with your request.:highfive Buddy!

I just love it when people think of others.:ThumbsUp
I think he meant down both sides of the boat and then some across the back.
Just tell her to give the money to me and the Dawgg. We will go buy up a bunch and tell you which are best for you to acquire :fish:Rofl!
Pick up a six pack of Zebco rods with 202's on 'em. That should handle all the fish you catch.:biggrin:Rofl:Rofl:Rofl
I would not ask that question if I knew it would get both my toons lined all way round with high dollar rods and reels nonono :biggrin
I think the Southern crappie rods will do it all........but for long lining I run a 12' 10' 6' 6' out back on each side the 10 and 12 are pinnacle limits and I have had zero complaints.
For reels it's up to what ever suites your fancy, but I like the Shimano IX 1000, 12.99 at academy sports.
These local rubes are having fun with this.
Yep! You sort of ask for it. :biggrin
Man
MY BEER AND FISH PARTY is going to be very lonely :cheers2
anyone know about Pinnacle rods?
You mean like who sells them?
No, are they ok?
Anyone used them?
Butch and I use them and I think Ronnie has some too. At 4 for $60 from Grizzly Jig they are hard to beat. I have 8,10 and 12 foot ones. I have never had and issue with them. They are heavier than my B&M Crappie Jig poles and I would not recommend them for single pole jigging but for spider rigging or long lining they are fine.
The Southern Crappie rods are popular with the guys on here also. They cost a bit more than the Pinnacles but everyone that has them swear by them.
If you are coming to the Fall outing Sarurday, I will being a couple for you to look at. Let me know, cause we are using Sinkermakers rig and I was not planning to bring my rods.
Thanks Sea ray
Unfortunately I'll not be at the event. Good info
I appreciate it
Associated! I don't think you can pass the Remus Blue minnow swimming test to get in this crowd! Might be a good thing you left but you can come back and try. I got in by being the all night Thunder Boomer rolling on the pontoons. They got pads around the boats now!:Rofl
Man you are some high dollar ppl. All I'm using is what ever
I find on sale and yard sales... and do ok.
But it I'd kind of funny using my 8 ft. Surf rod for crappie..
Tho I do have to us 1 to 2 oz lead to detect bites....
There seems to be a lot of out of work comedians on Crappie.Com, Any way go to Grizzly Jigs, They have the 10, 12' Slab Daddy rods on sale 4 for $80.00 These ae great poles and are great for trolling, great sensitive tip and back bone. Also they keep good reels for a good price. I use the $25.00 casting reels, They work great.
Thanks
You are welcome!
I use 6 rods across the back of my boat that are 5/5' to 6' long. Theyre around $15 rods. For outside the boat I use the Limit rods which are 8', 10', and 12' long. As mentioned they can be bought for $15 each. I also have two 14'er s which are an off brand and like the limits, theyre glass rods (heavy) but all are flimsy enough for trolling and the limit rods can double as spider rigging rods. If youre on a budget like me then you'll be well pleased with the limits. Theyre tough too. Honestly, I dont think a more expensive rod will help you catch more fish than the limit rods can catch. Well...that's my 2 cents...
Brett, you are right about that learning how to use them. It is expensive to break the tips off if you try to lift a large crappie out of the water. Most are broken buy being stupid and not paying attention to what you are doing. My sister sat on one of mine one night and broke it off about 5 inches from the tip. To bad it didn't stick in her butt, that's how mad it made me! But I put a new tip on it and it handles an 2 oz weight when we tight line in 50 ftw pretty well. You will get what you need just don't rush into it look around.:highfive
First time a striper snatches one of those expensive rods out the back holders the economical rods start looking very appealing.
Anybody using the 24' rods?
Just so you know....Ive been fishing the same limit rods since I began LLing (what...6/7 years ago or so) and have only broke one. My fault probably. I HAD to have stepped on the rod prior to breaking it cause it didnt have much of a bend at all in the rod when it was hung and the rod broke. Learning to manipulate.....when a striper hits one of my jigs I grab the reel so the drag wont slip and jerk the heck out of the rod to break the line before the fish wrecks my set-up. You cant hardly control a striper on a rod. He goes whichever way he wants and I dont want all my lines tangled into one giant mess.
I've seen 29's if you need them
Is there anywhere in the upstate that sells the pinnacle limit rods
