Where's all the Alabama Crappie reports?
I know with the water cooling off somebody's catching them! :fish
I was at the deer camp this weekend. Looks like next week will be full of work, work, and more work. Maybe I'll have a report in a couple weeks. I enjoy your reports though. Always great detail and helps people that don't get to hit the water a lot when they are able to go. Thanks
What was the water temp DB?
The water in the creeks off Old Hwy 20 were upper 50's.
I'd guess the main lake is mid 60's. The baitfish should be moving into the creeks with the Crappie following. I wished I could take a couple weeks off from work.
I've been catching them ok. It's really not been that good this fall. I'm out of commission for a while Saturday night I had a car pull out in front of me now my truck and boat are in the shop. Luckily no one was hurt. So I'm probably done for a while.
Sorry to hear that lowe175, Glad you ok and best wishes!
Tried to download a pic. I had a couple off the bank at the Marine Police in Decatur and a handful from Cotaca creek week before last. Went Sat morn to Cotaca with one keeper. Finally found them Sun morn at Limestone. Had 20 by 10am. One tree top, never moved. Better bite was on shiners @ 12-14 ft deep. Bite shut off around 10 and I don't think we caught another fish after that. They were chasing shad. My finder lit up with shad for about an hour and it was one right after another.
Heading to G'ville this coming Sat morn and probably go see if there are any on the lights down at Smith Sun morn.
Its getting there!
Mud
Caught better than 20 Sat morning with 10 keepers on Big G. 10 - 11 fow on monkey milk and bluegrass. They were still on the creek channels in the deeper water.
Great report Mudtar001!
I believe I was on those same fish in Limestone last week. Seemed most anglers were out in the bay fishing to shallow. I think the shad have moved into the creek off the main lake and the Crappie follow, just my two cents. Be glad when they move into the bay and scatter out shallow.
ShootnDocks,
Thanks for the report! The fish are on the same pattern on Wheeler, creeks mouths, but still fairly deep (10 to 12 feet).
I went to Ditto Wednesday and Friday of last week with just 6 total and no size. Wanted to try some bridges on Guntersville this weekend but ended up not going. Maybe this coming weekend I can go
Anyone long lining the big G ?? If so what speed /colors area types?? My buddy and I have not figured out yet Fall long lining at Gville. Guess we need to go get a gun and learn how to "shoot docks"(grin)and I have been out of town the last 2 weeks since we tried them. With the water in the mid 60's I was thinking of trying that instead of pulling cranks as it is late in the year for them anyway I figure the water will be even cooler by the weekend with the 2 or 3 mornings of mid 30 temps we have had and going to be in the 40's at night the rest of the week
. Anyone got any general fall long lining tips would love to hear from you. On another subject , one of my friends has been hitting under Town creek bridge hard in a boat the last few days and doing well until about 8 then they go somewhere else he said!
Lowe175, sorry to hear about your accident. Glad that everyone is ok and can fix the stuff that got bent up.
I fished G'ville last Thursday. The 79 bridge had no bait around it. I caught 4 short fish had a big one come off at the boat. Strangest thing, a few times huge crappie would follow my jig to the very top as I eased it out of the water. But they were just lookers. Again, there was no bait there...yet. Water temp was 70 at noon.
Fished Neeley Henry yesterday morning had 12 with a few small fish and bunches of catfish. They just pulled water for about a hour then the bite was off. Fish were in 10 to 12 fow.
Found em in forty ft of water today and vertical jiggin minnows. Thought we limited out but we had fifty seven.
Attachment 217443 72 today. Hit em just rite
You're all over it Lee!! Congrats.
