Brought my brother (bleedingduck) and his boy out of Jack Millers for about 3.5 hours yesterday morning before the tailgate. The bite was descent at first light but progressively got slower. Most caught on jigs of various colors, a couple on shiners. I suspect the cold front had something to do with the lock-jaw that set in after 8. We had a good time on a scenic bayou in South Louisiana, can't ask for anything more than that...

i love it when the kids go fishing my son is 20 and has been gone from home for 2 years with the Marines and sure miss our fishing trips

Just a few observations about my trip...The water in Grand River had risen 0.4 ft since the Saturday before when I caught 40...What in the world is the water doing rising in the biggest drought we had this year? The water was dirtier than last weekend also. The water temp was almost exactly the same despite the air temp being 10 degrees cooler. The fish i cleaned last week had bellies full of tiny shad...every single one of them. These fish were all empty in the belly. That small rise coupled with the high pressure had shut them down for sure, so I am very grateful for what we were able to catch... But they will feed again! and hopefully i will be out there to git em!
