Does anyone have any suggestions of the best way to approach removing a stake bed that looks like it has been there awhile? For some reason whoever set it did so close to a dock that when the water is lowered it would interfere with being able to tie up a boat to the dock. Not to mention when the water was deeper it would be a real hazard if someone jumped into the water off that side of the dock.
Any ideas or tricks of where to even begin would be greatly appreciated.
Looks like someone will need to go swimming. If they can not pull them up by hand then have them to tie good rope around them and then use boat and motor to jerk them loose. Alway be safe when in water around boat motor props they will cut you to pieces.:twocents
Maybe you will get lucky and it will be a frame with the stakes attached that was weighted and sunk close to the dock.
Who's dock? public or private?
You can make a big treble hook like drag out of rebar and attach a piece of chain couple feet and then stout rope. If it has a base maybe you can pull it up if its not silted in too bad. I use to run some hoop nets and the home made drags were what we used.I have one in the shed I made out of 1" steel pipe,I put three hooks of u shaped steel in one end and an eyelet on the other and poured it full of lead. Comes in handy sometimes for various stuff. Just make it cheap cause good chance your gonna hang it on something you may not be able to move someday.
Thanks everyone for you suggestions, and yes this is a private dock. I guess I kind of knew the answer would come down to a physical endeavor but I was holding out hope that maybe someone had some awesome solution that was more leverage or a type of tool instead of brute force. I'm not as young as I used to be and have some physical limitation so I think my best days of wrestling heavy objects from a lake bottom are probably behind me (grin). I'll give it a try but not too optimistic LOL. Maybe I can simply get a saw down close to the bottom and saw each one off one at a time. Not ideal but if I can pull that off it would still be better than what I currently have there.

Use an old anchor on a chain and some old carpet as padding (where the chain comes onto the boat ) preferably using a large pontoon. Securely snag it and with some help from a "young gun" try to lift it. If you can`t try pulling it with the chain securely attached to the boat. You may have to try from opposite directions to break it free from the bottom. If that doesn`t work you may have to use a stout long piece of PVC and try knocking it flat piece by piece...If none of the above works attach det cord to a Mark 6 Mod 2 600 pd WW2 depth charge but please remove the dock 1st before detonating it. Come-along to dock post. Anchor to the stakes with a chain or steel plate with a hole cut in it.

I think that constant pressure may be the key. Hook the stake bed with a hook and rope and apply constant pressure to it such as a barrel after a week it should be able to float it away. If it is near a dock as you say tie a line to it and tie your boat to it taught it will break free in few days s that It can relocated.
Find a Pallet Puller clamp it to the stake. And with your boat pull down on the rope. Pulling the front of the boat down. Then walk to the back and it should help pull them up. But I hope its your dock? If not the owner may not like you pulling his stake bed. LOL That or fit PVC pipe with caps over the bed.

I hadn't checked this thread in awhile and see some more good advise. Thanks I appreciate all the suggestions.
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get this done this year before the water level is increased. However at least now I have some god ideas to work with to where I can try and pan it for next year.
