Good luck with your treatment. All I am hearing about the joint replacement is it is so far easier and effective than in years past.
Both my knees are bone to bone and will be replaced eventually. I had allowed my weight to get much too high and it was causing more pain. My Ortho Dr has been injecting both knees every 12 weeks. He had advised me to get rid of a bunch of weight to help prior to and after replacement surgery. The injections had been lasting no more than 2 weeks until I was back on the Aleve (6Xday) or Lortab 7.5. I lost almost 30 pounds prior to my most recent injection (prior to today) and the pain didn't come back until 5 weeks after the shots. I was in today for my next injections and my Dr. was very happy to hear this. He even said it was now time for me to start doing some serious walking to build up my leg muscles again, something he had advised against prior to the weight loss. I was pretty tickled with the progress.
This might not help the OP but might encourage somebody else.
Good luck with your surgery Mr. Jim! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
