Enjoyed a morning at a strip pit
I took the morning off from working on an old house the granddaughter bought and took the old float tube to a local lake. I used a 1/80 kiptail in Blue/black and a 1/80 black jig with a neck hackle on a pair of Micro light ULs. I've been pretty fortunate that the Cabelas Pro Line 4lb has worked very well in these clear waters .
I was hankering for a small mess for a couple meals and was rewarded richly. Some of the larger fish were out on the flats at 14' to 16'. It seemed best when there was nothing showing on the Eagle 350C . I've never seen anyone else use the method I like. I use a waxie loaded jig dropped to the bottom with a shot up 2 or even 3 ft . then I kick off slowly and lift a bit then drop again. I think it is that slow fall at the bottom that they can't stand. I have moved the shot up to even 4' on a tough bite to get more fall. I enjoyed that method for a time then moved on to weed edges for the smaller 7" range to eat. I ended up keeping 21 . After taking the sides off the gills the offall get a shallow grave beside a tomato plant. lol Waste not want not .
The mornings are getting a fallish feel. Corn is in full tassle. Where did the summer go?Attachment 212069Attachment 212068
