I know folks were using ATVs to get to the fishing spots in the past in the spring. Can you still do that? I thought I heard something about them not letting folks ride the lake bed any more

Depends on the lake manager at each lake, right now on Grenada you still can but sure wish that would change. as far as fishing thats fine but there is a lot of mud riding going on that destroys the creek beds and old sloughs and such. the lake silts in enuff on its on without folks tearing the lake bottom up and loosening it up and then wash away. They ride at Enid a good bit too, not sure about Sardis and if I understand correct you aren't allowed to ride an ATV in the bottom at Butla, maybe someone can chime in on that.
Sardis is one of the worst.. They keep em off butla pretty well.. Can use one for hunting
We're picking up a 2012 Yamaha rhino saturday. Figured it'd help in the sping if I came up n did some jigging on the spawn. Kniw it'll be fun during squirrel season.
Congrats.....dont work on it yourself :Rofl
Amen on that. Boat will be out of the Shop next week. Dude that rebuilt the carbs had everything screwed up. They have it running great now. Just waiting on a tail light assembly to get it so they can fix that.
Last spring when I was down fishing at camp, there was 4 wheelers everywhere. Heck fire there even was as abandoned truck in the red grass area with water up into the wheel wells. Around here if you even get close to corp grounds with a 4 wheeler they will be all over ya.
They ride on the lake bottom at Sardis year round. Atv trucks cars no limit. There making them wear helmets now on atvs and are enforcing the no alcohol rule and no more riding after dark. It took a few kids to lose their lives to get things enforced. Mile marker 8 is a drunk fest every weekend. Boats trucks cars atvs. They litter like crazy also. Beer cans and bottles everywhere. Wouldn't be surprised if they shut it down.
Real sad, kids these days don't get brought up right. What about side by sides. They need hermits? I've got a full roll cage
Yes DD, helments required on side by side.
Better know where you are riding too or you will stick that thing!!!!!!
all I can say is this....I use sardis for fishing and hunting...I would hate it if they take away the use of atvs to get into the lake bed. That being said I know there are some out there that dont take care of things and mess it up for others. I hope we will always be able to use our atvs at sardis. And BTW if you aint careful you will have that thing stuck so bad it wont come out!! You have to be very careful traveling that lake bed
If you see grass growing in a wet spot stay away, it will swallow your ride. There is a saying in the bottoms....where grean grass grows...no one goes!
I don't have a problem with them riding around. Or used to fish. Some folks don't have boats. Why single them out and not allow to fish? Hate to blame all for the minority that trash things up. People in boats throw trash out too. I do agree helmets should be required. I can't see them having much negative impact on the actual fishing areas. In fact, I've caught lots of crappie in the trails of 4 wheelers thru grass beds!
You need to come go with me when the water goes down and I can show you numerous places on Grenada lake that have been destroyed soley because of mud riding during the winter months, not to mention the stake beds that get pulled up and used for a bon fire. As far as littering that has nothing to do with ATVs, its a wide spread problem.
I'll just go where Rees don;t go. Figure as many times as he's been stuck, he knows where the bad spots are lol
Over the last 32 year I have been stuck my share, last 2 time was broken equipment, driveshaft and a front axle. Don't drive in the bottom much at all any more.
I wish they would make them stay away from the lake altogether. A couple years ago I was at Nader and their was an older gentleman not far away. He was fishing a stake bed from his boat. A group of 30 or so punks rode down into the creek on him and total disrupted everything. Drove right thru the stake bed before he could even get out of the way. No respect at all, they had 50,000 acres to play on but ruined his day because they could. To heck with anyone riding wheelers on public land.
I just want to ride the banks to get to holes. There are so many idiots that just don;t care and weren't raised to respect others
Its always the stupid people that mess up good things for good people!
I see what you are saying what they did was completely out of hand! But on the same token what's the difference in all these old men who pull there boats right up next to mine and try jigging the same tree or stake bed I'm fishing? They have done thus numerous times in the spring
