Main thing is you had fun. We're fish in same general area.
Yeh fished same spot we fished last Sat fish wer in 18 to 20 foot of water
I gotta do 2 weeks of being on call before I can go back ,thanks for the report
good job buddy!
Glad to hear some one can get on the water, the local ramps aren't looking to good.
Thanks for the report
Only thing I hated to see last night was there was a bass tournament and after they weighed there fish all there dead fish they jus chunked back in the water.at least all the crappie tournaments I've fished at least someone wanted to take them home instead of jus throwing them away.
Think I'm headed back that way as soon as the moon goes bye bye
Bass is not good to eat plus high in toxins, good catfish bait!!!!!!!!
I was in bout 21 foot of water and was catching them at 18 to 20
When u fishin again
Don't know I need to run my deer dogs this wknd since wer fishing next wknd but if I don't run them I may go sat nt
Fishing lights at night on a point anchored out.to hot for me to fish during day . can't handle all the boat traffic either
That may be part of our problem. we were fishing mid column, not near the bottom. The only two crappie that we caught, both took the bait at around 7 feet down. These two fish were caught about an hour apart in the same general area. Two HB 500 units were showing fish heavy in the 5-12 range in 20 feet of water.
FishHound,
Are you using electronics to find the fish for each trip, or are you just going to a know spot that you have stumbled across in the past?
I am not wanting to know where you are fishing or your coordinates, I am more interested in the process that you use to find the fish.
If I can figure out the process of finding fish then, my wife and I can start to find our own fish.
When we night fish, my wife casts out a single hook with a minnow under a cork or bobber, depends on where you are from. I am trying to fish a double minnow rig from 9 foot Mr. Crappie fiberglass poles.
Our light is a DIY led light that I made. Green led on bottom and White led on top with Yellow turn signal lense tape on it to keep the bugs down.
Any information is appreciated.
Fishing only one spot that seems to produce most of the time.it has a flat that drops off.using conduit pipe with dome lights attached to it to keep light away from boat and don't hv problem with bugs.using a Carolina style rig and a drop shot rig .Carolina rig seems to work a little better but hv more fish swallow hook to.only good things is after past two wknds hv only caught 1 short fish most fish are 9in or bigger
nice info thank you
I have a question concerning the carolina rig. Do you use some sort of floatation on it or is the bait on the bottom? Thanks
1/2 ounce to 3/4 egg sinker bead then swivel then tie bout 12in line to swivel and hook of choice.no float jus tight line over side of boat
so similar to the C&C minnow rig, just without the top hook. Are you using minnows or jigs? If minnow, what size?
Jus crappie minnows
My opinion on your light rig. is fish one or the other color. If I read it right your fishing too many variations in color. That being said Hound is telling you the way most of us fish. We all have pretty much the same lighting but different approaches and aplcations. Now what works for me is I follow mac crappie and stay about 100 foot from him in any direction and you can catch fish lol. Sorry Mac had to throw a punch.
I agree with everyone on one color. A simple white light is all you need but everyone has their own type of light.
ok i am trying to take it all in and process it.
My fishing light was made with the one in this link as the guide.

The first time we used it we had large school of bait swimming around it, but we had bugs out the backside. We covered the white portions with yellow tape. far less bugs, but also have not seen the large bait schools like first time we used it. was considering taking the yellow back off.
does anyone have a picture of the light set up that you guys are using?
I am trying to convince my wife to come to the Tillery nightstalk, to get some ideas and advice.
That's what I wld do u can learn a lot talking to the guys at the night stalks.see setups on different style boats and see what may work for urs.
You are correct
Lynn I think next time we need to get in Shane's back pocket [emoji87]
Lynn as long as you pickin on me you are letting your son alone (newly) [emoji12]
Cause: Here is the night fishing light I use. I also have a white one as a backup. As far as what to use. I use 4lb line all the time and one very small hook about a foot or so below a 1/8 pinch weight so the minnow can swim around. Set up in 30 feet of water off a point drop the hook all the way to the bottom and reel up one turn of the handle counting as you reel. When you get a bite repeat the same number of turns. Most of the time fishing right under the light is the best spot. But I will also move the minnow in and out of the dark area. Good luck

I use 6 lb line and a #2 hook tied to the end of line and a large split shot just above the hook for weight.
Let's see if you do the same as Turkeyfoot why is it he catches fish and you don't hum,,, I forgot your to busy looking for kk doughnuts and not watching your rods. Man am I glad your going to be eaten wedding cake next weekend or I would catch all kinds of bull from you. I'll keep you posted fish by fish so you want feel left out.

Alot of us have fished together for several years and I myself am glad to to call everyone friends. Hope you and your wife come and enjoy the comrodery and have a great time as we all do.
