Blue Moon Bluegill

Mixed emotions about fishing today. I really wanted to take the boat out, but it is soooo hot and there was a forecast of some wind today so I decided to go to our Wildlife pond with the fly rod early this morning. Got there about 7 AM with a light rain falling.

We have a covered picnic shelter by the pond so I put out a line with a redworm and waited out the shower. It only lasted about 20 minutes so I read the paper and had a cup of coffee. Tough fishing, right? I managed several really nice bream on the fly rod and one shellcracker. Oddly enough the red worm I put out for shellcracker caught a really mad turtle and a nice bluegill.

Caught about a dozen in all which were freed to swim again.
On another note, if any of you members in this area have kids or grandkids and need a place to fish, our club is an excellent place to take them. Plus, we have a clubhouse with a bathroom, because most every kids I've taken fishing needed "the potty" about 10 minutes after we got there. We teach outreach fishing clinics through DNR to introduce folks to fishing so if you feel lead to take part in this or just need a place to relax and fish, shoot me a PM and I will give you all the info.

Ray you found a good way to get a little fish slime on your hands :) Nothing wrong with that kind of fishing and being able to use the fly rod is a big plus. Nice gills

LOL, one of my Wildlife Club buds sent me a text saying it would have fit better to have a Blue Moon instead of coffee in this post. If it had been later in the hot afternoon I probably would have. :cheers2

Nice catch Mr. Ray, that's roughing it I'll tell ya. Beats getting wet and riding the waves and you still satisfied the need to fish.
