Looks pretty good! You know some don't use flash at all and I use to be like that. Finally though I started putting one strip on each side and did well. However I do plan next spring to use a lot more without any flash and I do have a reason, but will hold that to myself for now. After the experiment I will tell next year.

Nice looking ties.
Good looking ties - marabou takes getting used to, some days it ties up with no problems and then there are those days when you'll cuss at it like crazy!!!
Thanks. It's a little different than doing hair jigs. My biggest issue is I have nerve damage in my hands and I can't feel ths feathers. I must admit that I don't use flash alot and I prefer to use peacock herl like on the pink ones. Thanks again.

Nice jigs. Keep up the good work.
Those are nice, I would fish them any day.
Nice work :ThumbsUp
I think you did an outstanding job of tying them. Thanks for the info on the peacock herl. Didn't know what it was. I also thought that flash was part of three jig kind of a requirement. But I just might tie some now with out it.
Ya done good Son.
they look good to me
Okay guess I shouldn't have said anything, LOL1 Well someone mentioned the he thought that no flash makes for bigger fish. I didn't pay much attention to that though at first, but then one day a little later I was back on a subject that has been kind of making me peeved (use that word for mixed company). That subject is it's been a few years now that I have not caught at least one 17" crappie and I had a nice string going for probably 11 or 12 years in a row I caught at least one 17" or longer. Last really good fish was a 16 1/2" caught a couple years ago at night. So then I started remembering what that guy said and when I put the two together, well do I really need to go more now?
All I know is that I am going to find out, LOL!

Thanks,
If you go without flash, what colors are you planning on to go after them?
Will not change my spring colors at all. First is Chart/Blue/Chart or Chart/Black/Chart, then Silver/FL Yellow/FL Blue, if the water clears still Silver/Silver/FL Blue or Silver/Blue/White. These are my first line unless it's stained a good bit from rain and then Flame Red/Black & FL Yellow/Hot Orange!

I have to admit my largest fish are caught on Acid Rain hair jigs no flash.
Thanks for the input Brimfisher!
Once that thought hit my head I have really believe that my lack of 17" and larger crappie ended when I went flash on every jig! Now I am not saying that the flash doesn't get you more bites, but just that maybe the biggest crappie in the bunch doesn't go for flash?

OK,
Now, Please speculate on why this is?
What would the flash have to do with it?
thanks,
my ramps are closing down with the drought so I may as well learn all i can here.
Skip you jigs work to good. There aren't any 17in fish left lol. Maybe you should use some of my jigs for a couple of years then you can go back to your jigs an catch some more big fish.
I really do not have a clue, but I do know from sometime in the late 1990's until maybe 4 years ago I caught at least one 17" crappie every year and some times ever larger. My biggest was 18 1/4". I never weighed any of them except the one my wife caught that was 3#. Also I know that I never used flash on my personal jigs and only put flash on jigs if I had to for someone. I didn't like messing with it because I do it one strip on each side individually and that took a good bit more time for each jig. Anyway sometime about 4 to 5 years ago I was talking with a guy that I had got to know pretty well and he insisted on flash so I ask him about it. He told me that he got a lot of hits using jigs with flash. I also ask how long it last and he said about 75 to 80 fish before it was worn off. He also said he would still catch fish on them after that, but maybe 30% less strikes. So I jumped in with flash and started putting it on mine. Now for several years no 17" crappie and I was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong. I blamed it on the lakes troubles over that time with things like the drought and the fact out Hydrilla got killed off, but when it came back there were still not 17" crappie. So I have been having this on my mind for a long time now and this is just one more thing to try. Sorry I can not at this time tell you this is going to work or not, but I can tell you if the next one I catch is without flash, flash is going to be a goner on my personal jigs, LOL! Also if the next one comes on a jig with flash, then I will probably figure it makes no difference at all and probably stop using flash so much since I can tie about 2 times as fast without that stuff! Some use a fold over and tie in method and that is a lot faster, but I like to control mine more.
lowe175, LOL, but some of my big crappie were caught on jigs that didn't look as good as mine do now and some even on bought jigs before I started tying. I didn't start tying until about 2003 ish or about 12 years ago and I started catching these big ones in about 1998 when I first bought a camp here and then in 2000 bought the home we live in now which was next door to our camp, LOL!
