Hey folks, there are a few of us crappie.com members getting together up at the state park camoground at Mark Twain lake on the weekend of August 22nd. We thought we would throw the invite out there to everyone. I doubt we do anything too organized, just your typical camping and fishing and then maybe sitting around the fire in the evenings for a good bull session. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
At least 3 of us from the Rolla/St. James area are going.:cheers2 We are staying at South Fork resort fri, and sat. Hope to see ya there.
I have the weekend open, except for my wifes birthday. Have to see how many honey do its going to cost me if I go.
Thats gonna be a lot of honey do's!
Can't say for sure but I'm really going to try to make it up there. Never been to Twain but always wanted to go.

my reservations are made, we are staying in camper cabin F, which is in the "Puma" loop in the state park. my folks are also going and they are in another camper cabin... can't wait!

Unless something drastic happens up here in Cheese Country, I'm scheduled to be at my cabin by 6:00 A.M. that Friday (8/21).... maybe earlier.

far as I know for sure, in my group there will be my mom and dad, daughter wife and dog. a co-worker of mine is also camping there that week but not sure if he will show his ugly face... I talked with cschottfish and I think he is trying to make it.
I got a room reserved at South Fork. I have to work Friday so wont be getting down till dark when all the BS will be flowing at the camp fire. Hope there will be some good fishing reports by then.
good deal! I won't be able to leave on Friday until 3 when my daughter gets out of school so I will be rolling in about 5.
Probably too early to say Greg, but do you think you'll be on the water Friday night or just hanging at camp? I'll bet you and Ripn a bottle of Captain we'll still be on the water!Quote:

Talked to Gary (catman) said he thought he was free that weekend and hoped to be there.
if I am settled by 5 or so then I will probably fish on Friday. I am already anxious to get to fishing, gonna be tough not to at least go wet a line. but if I get there later in the evening then I will be fishing out of the cooler...
So we going to plan a meal for maybe Sat. noonish I would rather fish the evenings and BS with cool ones after dark. But do think a daytime get together would be good. Any thoughts?
I'm going Kayaking on that Saturday at Pomme and I have to take a water sample at Stockton Sunday otherwise I'm free to go or not. I hope everyone has a great time.

a lunch sounds good to me. we won't be on the water the whole day, we usually fish early then come back and cool off then fish again in the evening. I'm not as die hard about constantly having a line in the water as I used to be. so do you guys want me to bring the weber and chef it up a little? I'm always game to BBQ.
have your dad motor over to the state park ramp and I'll come get you and your crew. if there isn't too many of us I may hit up a local farmer I know for some pork steaks and ribeye's!Quote:

Hope so Robbie. U being in the know where do you believe us foreigners may find a fish or two Fri. about 10 or 11ish? We should be up there around then and will be looking to put the boat in the water. Looking forward to the outing be good to see the MT crew again. Catman where u at shut down your computer or what?
Robbie, no worries on getting back to me, whatever we have for food, we'll be sure there is enough for you and a few other guys. when it comes to BBQ, I always be sure to have enough for leftovers.
yeah, the fishing has been slow for a lot of folks all summer. to read the south forks blog, there is no crappies over 5 inches left in twain... well, the crappies sure have had plenty of water to hide in this summer. the falling water will certainly condense the fish some. I'd like to see the water slowly go down to about 610 and stabilize for a few days just before camp...

Looks like the Corp. is pulling Twain down a little over a foot a day. Just a hair over 616' right now....... assuming they are trying to get her down to normal pool, and if we can avoid major rain, should be right around normal pool for camp.
That being said, I agree with Greg that 610 would be better!

seems like in the past, when they drop the lake, they hold it around 610-612 for a few days then start dropping it again. I happen to be there twice when that happened. once on a day trip and once on a weekend. it was some fine fishing!

`seems like we are gonna have a few more guys than I thought. I don't think my weber will be able to handle the load of steaks in a timely manor so what do you guys think? I'm all ears here. my thoughts are we can do brats and burgers and such on the grill or I could bring my fryer and cook up some fish and taters? only problem with that is I don't have enough fish as of yet to go around, but I just whipped up a mess of noodles and I'm going to try to wrangle up some eater sized blues this evening..
614 is good, hope they shut the water down about Wednesday or so...
