Porum Landing bridge is good this time of year. Tie up to the piers or our at the no wake bouy. Minnows as bad as I hate to say it.
Ok thanks I'll give it a try never fished there
Good luck and let us know how that goes Mud.
Any of the bridges should be good now, as they restrict the flow and generate a current with all of this high water. I'm going to start hitting them this week early AM and see what happens. I'll bet the night fishing should be good too.
Highway #9 bridge, next to the last pier on the west end is a good spot too. I've caught many crappie fishing there over the years.
I hear everyone talking about fishing the bridges. What about the fact it's illegal to tie off to or anchor under a bridge.
Okay, that's something I was not aware of, not that I was doubting "dinobot" but I like to see it in writing so I went online and looked up the "Oklahoma Boating Laws and Responsibilities" a handbook put out by the OK Lake Patrol, here is a link https://www.boat-ed.com/oklahoma/handbook/book.html
and low in behold there it is on page #38 under......... wait for it ........ "Home Land Security Regulations".

Now don't that just beat everything!!!! Homeland Security messing with my fishing spots!!!
What was that olé line my pappy used to say? Something about a man that trades freedom for security deserves neither. Welcome to the police state folks
....Do not stop or anchor beneath bridges or in the channel....
Just move s..l..o..w..l..y!
"I'm sorry officer, the motor quit and I tied off to this pier. I've called a friend and he is on his way to tow us back to the boat ramp. Oh, the lights? Well, I thought since we here, might as well do a little fishing while waiting on the friend. Is anything wrong? Wanna see my fishing license?"
Good thing is I don't normally see too many (if any) officers running the lake at 2:am :biggrin
Maybe you don't see them but they probably have seen you and deemed you not a threat, but then they may have tapped your phone and are keeping tabs on your family and don't forget their GPS is way better than yours and them drone things have you heard strange noises in the night. Oh and them SEAL dudes can sneak under your boat and scare the fish away while looking to see what you have tied to that line, oh no they might be reading this post. I have got to go hide GOOD FISHIN!
Well, its time to take our country back, one crappie at a time.
I don't think the regs for anchoring under a bridge are written very clearly. After doing a little research, it seems this only applies if the bridge is in a security zone or if you are blocking channel traffic. Specifically, the one example I read is the big bridge in Tampa Bay (Sunshine Skyway), only the main span is listed in the security zone and may not be anchored to or under, there is no mention of restrictions for the rest of the 4 mile long bridge. Bridges are a heightened security area, and you are more likely to be given a check, but it doesn't appear to be illegal. Next time I see a Lake Patrol, I'm gonna ask for clarification.
Let us know what you find out okhawg
