Good or Bad idea?

Y'all reply to this for me. I'll take positive or negative comments.

My idea is to create a Slab Hunter crappie catching kit.
Sound stupid?
Well the reason is so many folks want what I use. I got no idea why but anyway, to further promote good customer relations, I'm considering building this kit.
It will include 1/2 dozen each (4 different colors, 24 total) of my favorite MidSouthTackle jigs to start with, and maybe later include a jar of chartreuse or white crappie nibbles.

The only down side is it would be more labor intensive.
Price would adjust accordingly, and be a fair price. ;)

I know I said that I wasn't here to sell and I'm not, but I trust y'alls opinion.
Should I create this kit folks have asked me for or not....... ???????

sounds like a good idea to me. some of us WANTABE fisherman will try anything that might help us catch a fish. coming from someone that knows fishing as you do i think it would be a good idea.

Randy sounds like a good idea to me. I think people would buy it and probably lot's of them, only drawback would be who builds the kits? If you plan on doing it you are going to be a busy man:eek: for sure!

I use to cut grass on the side for spending money .Would cut for a little less than others just to get the contracts. People say that your time is worth alot , and I do agree but I have also heard people say that they had more time than money and so that is the direction that I lean towards in a situation like this .I think you should give it a try you already have a pretty good rep out there it seems to me .

Hey Randy, sounds like a good idea to me but be careful you may open up a can of worms that you may not want b/c I think the demand for those will be GREAT!

I also think you need to add some minners to those kits!:eek:

IMHO make up about 15 0r 20 kits. see how long it takes you. ask a fare price then see how fast they sale. If it doesnt take more of your time than you want it to then make them up.If it takes a wile take only the orders that you can fill and make more when you have the time.
I might suggest to make one kit for one order. But you might have a full time job on your hands.
The kits would be nice though.
Bottom line is...Are you willing to devote the time to do this?

Make sure the kit has the jigs already tied in the LARTO fashion and put a swivel at the top for easy attachment to one's line.

Well don't really know if you want my 2 cents or not, but what I am trying to do is make some assortments of my jigs that people can just say I want that assortment. I am only doing this because of the request I get. I get people asking if I have assortments or they say just pick me the colors you think I need and make me an assortment. So I have been working of assortments based on a price that will give them a choice of cost to them.

So I tell you this to say if they ask for it then you should do it! That is my take anyway.

I have even thought of making some assortments that people can add a piece of tube to use your pump with or as part of one of my assortments.

Randy, I think you have a great idea. As Deacon said , tie all of your jigs "Larto style" ready to be fished right out of the package. All a person needs to do is tie it to the distal end of their main fishing line. P.S. I'm a big boy and I'll even squirt my own niblets with the famous bait pump into each tube jig. Good luck but I do envision someone having some mighty tired hands after tying all this.(maybe too tired to jerk a perch--he he!!)

OK, Randy, now that you have gotten some replies, I will put my two cents in, I think what you are wanting to do is a good ideal, labor intensive unless you can get midsouth to do up a packet for you, I agree the price would go up due to the additions. Let me make a suggestion to you, You can sell them seperate or combined. ex. The Bait Pump $15.00 Slab Hunter 24pc Jig packet $5.00 OR the Bait Pump Combo Deal, one bait pump and one jig packet for $18.00. Or the Super Bait Pump Combo Deal = One Bait Pump, one packet of Slab Hunter Jigs, and one bottle of Glow White Crappie Nibbles for $22.00
I'm not saying to use those prices, just offer a choice of one or the other, or Both for a slightly cheaper price. I know you are NOT trying to go big time with this, but the JIG packet may sell just as well as the Bait Pump.
As for tying the 4 rig jig setup, I think I would just throw in a detail picture of the setup with knots and lengths, it would be too much trouble to tie that many setups. Ok, enough rambling, Good Luck with what you decide to do, and keep us posted.......................Johnny

Randy; This was the first thing I thought of when I read your post. If you could make up a one page detailed diagram of how to tie up the rig, include the jigs, maybe a couple of barrel swivels, the Bait Pump, and possibly the nibbles if you wanted to go that far, then a person would have everything they needed except for a pole, to get out catch some fish. Maybe even a little note describing what they should look for and how to actually fish the rig. It's like you said in that it could get very intense before it was over. I'd work up a few and try it if you're getting enough request for it.

:) Sounds like a good idea to me. It would help those of us just getting into
artificial bait fishing for Crappie. I would like one with the tube jigs, nibbles,
bait pump and rigged for fishing.:cool:

I think you've got a great Idea Randy, and as CrappieSam suggeted,include a video which would be optional (Pricing).
The reason I say go for it is because of the 6 bait pumps I bought, everone who gets one from me wants to know where do I get my jigheads (Midsouth tackle) and where do I get my crappie nibbles (BPS).
A video from a successful Crappie fishermen would be welcome..no matter how good someone thinks he is, there is always tips to pick up,

humnn tyin them larto style, heck just asume put randy in the boat with em and let him catch the fish man that would be alot of work and that would take the fun out of learnin how to catch em but i do think the kit with a diagram is a great thing

A lot of folks are following your lead Randy!! The best part is that you have proven your ability to "catch-um". Make up a batch and change color combo's for different conditions and I'll be first in line. Put a little fishing wisdom with the combo's, (water color, weather conditions, etc...), for each combo I'll bet they'll sell like hotcakes.

Suggestion for your kit:
How about some pre-tied rigs (does not have to have the plastic jigs as colors will vary).
Pre tie either 3 jig or 4 jig and have a small barrell swivel about 1 ft. above the top jig -
put these on a swim noodle and can put 10 or 12 rigs on a small noodle ... we have a fast snap on
the end of 40# spider line on our reel.... when a rig gets hooked on a trot line or something else... just
pull hard & the 8# mono breaks... grab a noodle and hook up another pre-made rig and listen to the ring of
the cash register...
