So sorry to hear. The man was definitely a LEGEND in the fishing industry........... ~~<*{{{{<<
He was definitely a nice guy and loved to show people how to fish just as much as he liked to fish .
RIP Mr JB
I'm glad we made the trip and got to meet him. Still using one of his poles and it will give me the blues a little when I do.

That's too bad, a great fella.

Thanks for the info Bruce and JR. Bruce I'll never forget the day you and I spent with him at LSU. I can still hear him telling me to "keep your elbow against the wall". May he RIP and find a fishing hole in heaven.

RIP
My reel was loose on my jig pole , so I went to his shop. He fixed it on the spot no questions asked...this was 6-8 months ago...I enjoyed talking with him, quite a character and always willing to share his knowledge. He will be missed.
He was a good friend!!!
I'll miss him for sure
JB is on the home page.....
When you would go into his shop he would perform what he called "Salters magic show". He would show you all the tricks with his jig poles. He was something. R.I.P.
He will be missed, what a character. My wife and I went one time, he was showing her how to use his pole. He told her that her thumb nail was to long, she said she would cut it later. He whipped out some nail clippers and told to do it now. I got a good laugh out of that one.
I did not know the man personally but have heard nothing but good about him. RIP Mr. JB.
RIP Mr. Salter! I didn't personally know you, but I know enough about you to know that your legacy will carry on for many years. Thanks for passing on your love of fishing to so many people.
My wife and kids and I were on our way to north la for a bball tourn and stopped in at the McDonald's there by his shop . As we were waiting in line in the drive through I saw his shop there and decided to jump out and go see what kind of jigs he had in there .
45 minutes later after learning how to flip the jig in the bucket and wife sitting on the horn , I got to meet mr JB . I did get the 3 lil slip corks I've never opened and pack of rubber things you put on your jig to keep from getting hung up .
A character he was ! wish I would have had more time to talk with him .
A Legend he was. RIP
Great man,Great fisherman.R.I.P.Mr.Salter and good fishing there up in HEAVEN.
