What's the best to get and are the 4 stroke ones any good?
Echo... I have two, one with a blade and one conventional. I've had the conventional for more than 10 years and an echo gas leaf blower for twenty years...
I have a Stihl weedeater. been good so far. It is two stroke though.
You are welcome to come to the house and try it out for a couple of hours.:biggrin
Hush, Goodtime, you know the first thing them goats would eat would be Ms Tammy s flowers and then they'd be on the smoker!!!
Speck, as much as I appreciate your offer I have found you to be a man of your word and trust what you tell me.
SnowCamp I appreciate your input, will check em out.
Stihl very dependable, straight shaft is my pref.
I have a Toro 4stroke. No problems so far in 2 years. Only problem is it's heavier than the 2 strokes. Not balanced very well. It puts all the weight on the motor end. Will tire your arm out pretty quick. And it doesn't seem as powerful as the other 2 strokes I've had. I guess that's the trade off. It's a lot more reliable and easy starting.
Stihl
Hire the weed eating done !
I have a 4 stroke. To heavy for me. Went back to my old one.
My wife prefers the feather weight Weedeater brand weed eater :biggrin I get her a new one every four years
Stihl or Echo...I've been using Echo's for past twenty years.
Got the Echo 2 stroke, didnt have 4 stroke in stock so I got the 2, glad I did after seeing some of these posts.
You will be happy with the echo. That's what I have and I'm very pleased. Did you get the one that is easy to restring where you line the holes up on the head and insert string, it is auto fed?
Stihl . My last one lasted 18 yrs. just got a new one . Get what you pay for . jmo.:cheers2
Let the engine cool, spray the gas cap and around it with engine degreaser, let soak some and spray clean with a water hose. Let dry before adding more gas.
When I was working I charged $15 to clean the carb on gas trimmers. Most of the time I could let them sit for 24 hours and see the trash in the tank.
I have the Stihl 4 stroke and it is a powerful machine. Have a small still that is about 20 years old that still gets the job done. Been doing a lot of reading latley and that echo gets rave reviews from everyone. Plus 5 year warranty can't be beat. Most of your commercial guys are swapping over to them. Easy start and that auto line feed is great. If that's what you got it should last as long as you want to weed eat.
Stihl weed eater, chainsaw, leaf blower, and edger. Prefer the bent shaft on the weed eater. Chain saw gets cranked about once a year. Takes about eight or ten pulls but It will crank. It is ten or twelve years old. I over winter all of them with Sea Foam in the gas.
I prefer the Stihl products. Have 3 different size chainsaws & a couple of the weedeaters. I like the bentshaft model over the straight. Seems to be easier on my back.
Got the straight shaft but I didnt see a curve shaft with the bigger motor. Anyway, got some of it knocked out this morning and when the wind settles for a little bit I will spray, just been too wet or too winding to spray until now. I hate weedeating but I hate a wussy weedeater even more, if I got to do it I want a machine that will walk!!!!!
Thanks for all the input guys!!
Stihl, chainsaw and eater. I just run the gas out at the end of the year, no prob.
Echo or Stihl. They will last a life time.
I'm sold on Stihl. Still using the 2 stroke model I bought in 1994. Had to replace some shaft bearings a couple years back (unit was not made to cut underwater but the cattails in my pond will argue that it worked just fine. Otherwise no problems. However, I love this rough blade for almost everything 7 " Brushcutter Chain Saw Tooth Blade Fits Stihl Echo Husqvarna More | eBay
My weedeater sees a lot of brushy stuff and with the brush cutter blade and barely needs much more than idle speed to devastate weeds. Trees up to 1-1/2" can use some throttle. Also is easily sharpened.
Hey Rees I work for Thompson Agriculture here in cleveland and we are a dealer for Echo equipment so if you ever need anything for it let me know and I can get you fixed up.
Stihl FS 90
I agree with echo. Just stay away from enthanol gas
