Is crescent any ones home lake? and are you catching any lately:dono
Don't think it's anyone's Home Lake and No reports coming in that I've seen. That's a great lake though. Several of us start hitting it from December thru February...seems to the best fishing time and some big ones too. That's where I caught my 16" "Shad and Crappie Derby" winner...actually it was Dead Lake. Hope to see you up there! :cheers2
Hope to see you up there too. I bought a place there in march and have done well on the beam and shell crackers not so much with the specks. I'll keep at it but only get there every couple weeks i was hoping someone else could give me some direction:cheers2
Speckanator don't know what he is talking about...Here is what I know about Crescent....Don't think it's anyone's Home Lake and No reports coming in that I've seen. That's a great lake though. There is a slabfest at Crescent in January. Great time to be had and all you have to do is follow the crowd. Great lake to catch a lot of 2# fish.
It will be my home lake from Dec. through Feb. Best lake for big crappie that I have ever fished.
I hope we have another slabfest there this winter so I can meet all you fine people.
We have been tossing the idea around and we will have something there. Thinking about having a Get Together one weekend without all the cooking and work, etc...Just some good fishing and fellowship. I am sure there will be more details about it in the next 2-3 months.
Crappie- palooza ?
We will be on it December 12th for the Florida Crappie Club Classic.........
Probably be prefishing it for 3 -4 days prior.
Should have in neighborhood 38 - 40 teams in Classic.
Excellant lake year round. Bigger fish are caught from late October through
March because of migration from St Johns River into lake for spawning purposes.
Besides - Crappie - several spieces of Salt Water Fish are caught there because
of St Johns River - Lady fish - flounder - snook - red fish - etc
fishin813 Have you caught snook there before I didn't think they were that far north?
have caught snook in the lake......not of any real size - have been caught.
Flounder again not real large, but are in there
Red-fish - size picked up on this spieces
The spec's being caught through summer months will be probably in the 14 -15 oz
to about 1lb 5 oz. They really don't start putting on feed bag until Sepetember.
They will be scattered over the 16,000 acres of water avail.
There are large - king size Gar - Mud Fish - along with good sized Cats in that lake.
At one time this lake was considered Bass Carpitol of Florida - have monuments
each end of town that say so.
If you are going to pull cranks - go to 10# spider wire -braid with 10 - 12 lb floracarbon
leader.
thanks for the info fishin813 now i have more options
