Anybody want to try & fish at High Rock this Saturday night? I plan to be there as long as weather cooperates and some of the SC guys have expressed interest in coming up.
BigDawgg says me and him are lookin at comin up. Need some info on ramps and where to catch all the fish.
I use the Wildlife ramp at Second Creek. Across the road is Tamarac Marina. Tamarac has bait & tackle and a grill but just before you get there is Hill's Minnow Farm. That's where I stop for bait and they have all the bait and tackle you need. They also have a grill plus hunting stuff too. Good store to check out. I plan to fish Friday night so I hope to have an idea where fish are:biggrin

Crowd is looking slim for a clash but I'm ready to fish! How about meet at the ramp at 7:30 and we will decide what time to meet back later. Looking forward to it!

I'm in. Let's do it! I went last week on a really nice night with a bright and full moon. Caught a bunch, but not much size to them. Hopefully we'll find some bigger ones this weekend.

For lake information check out High rock Lake information do a search and has good information on it. i plan on coming down if i can get power to my lights and fish finder i have lost power. I dont know where we will put in at yet.
Well how'd you do last night?
Myself and Bobby J wound up bringing 23 home and gave 10 to a guy that was fishing and hadn't caught any. All fish typical HR fish.
Enjoyed meeting up again to fish with you guys. I had a good time fishing and releasing. I also liked Hill's minnow farm and store. You guys got it going on at High Rock lake. Thanks for the invite up there to check a new lake out. I know I will do it again but it will be awhile after I get my knees fixed. Good choice turkeyfootnc. Thanks again. I'll leave it to ofishlbizzness to tell the fish stories.
We went , we saw , we fished ,we caught, we came home. Is that ok Dawgg ? Really we had fun up there. Nice lake. And full of crappie just like ya'll said. Only Dawgg wouldnt let me catch any of the bigguns. We must have caught 30 -40 crappie and maybe that many perch. The size was small for us. Only one or two keepers out of all those. But hey we was catchin ! Good to see you guys again. Dont know where Bluegrass Maniac ended up. Last word I got they was headed up the creek. Sure hope they had a paddle. We had fun and ready for another one. Good to see another CDC member at the ramp. Think he said he was Fishman. If he reads this he will know who he is. Had a nice little dog with him and his new bride. Good to meet new faces. See ya'll soon for another round. Thanks for inviting us up.
Great to see everyone again. Glad everyone caught fish just hate there wasn't much size to them. I had 11 keepers but just at 8" a couple went around 9". Hope we can do this again soon!
Was good seeing everybody again! We had fun. We missed the weigh-in if there was one, but it was a fun night. We run up the lake a ways to look at a new spot I had been pondering. We didn't find much of nothing there - except for a hundred boats waiting on the fireworks to start, so we came back down to our regular spot just before dark. We did ok there, but it was a little on the slow side.
We ended up finding an new spot right on the main channel, and did a lot better there. We never did catch any big ones. Had a couple 10's most keepers were 8-9" along with the normal catch of peanuts.
Gotta say - it was pretty awesome catching crappie and watching fireworks at the same time!!
You had a lot of stuff happening to you but I guess you don't want to tell how (the first) one little fish tangled up four rods at once. :Rofl I see how you are!:popcornQuote:

Those little stories are what makes trips memorable :) Friend I had with me had a fish on one rod and second rod in his hand. While we was getting the rod with a fish on it, a second fish smacked the bait on his second rod and jerked it right out of his hand...and into the lake :Rofl the other two of us on the boat laughed so hard!!
a little bit later I had a bite on my rod, so I reeled in, and I didn't have a fish but I was snagged on the line of the rod that fell in the lake which still had a fish attached at the other end.
Teamhooksetter and I reeled it in discreetly and recovered the sunken rod and started fishing with it making inside jokes about it while we waited to see how long it would take my friend to notice I was fishing with the rod he lost!!!! :Rofl:Rofl:Rofl

It was good to see everyone again, and meeting other CDC'ers before and after the fishing. My wife and I tried out a new spot and I found plenty of small crappie. They might have been 8" I was just catching and throwing back as fast as I could keep two rods going (most time fish 5 rods) no way that was going to happen!!!!! My wife did not want to partake in any of that so she fished deeper than the crappie wanting to catch her big catfish, she got it hooked one time and it broke her line :banghead Looking forward to doing it again!!!
