That's alot of layers! Find that at the farm?
That there is a good snake......dead
Is it true, they grow a new button every year? Just what I've heard, didn't know. Ate some in Sweetwater, Tx. a few times, tasted just like chicken.
Nice buzztail, Redge. I don't think I've seen more rattles on one snake. All I've seen up here in Montana this year is water snakes. But last year, there were lots of rattlers at our favorite lake. My sister works for the veterinarian hospital, and there were lots of dogs and horses in for treatment. Didn't check the other animal (human) hospital.
DAY-OHM, Redge!!! I HATE SNAKES!!! That made me dream about them last night. I'm gonna start wearing snake boots around the house!
How long was that snake 5'? Big as your bicep?
Dead snake= good snake!!
RRR I am not sure, I have heard they get a new one everytime they shed.
Bigsky if one of the dogs get bit, liquid Benadryl really helps.
Floyd sorry about that!! LOL
CG 63", big for a timber.
BIG TIMBER IS RIGHT!!!!! That had to be as big as your bicep or bigger. 5 - 6" in diameter? Shotgun him, then cook him down with a lil napalm for good measure. Just tryin to hep.
Did he sqirm in de gris? I kill em but don't touch em
Me either. I grew up around a few big Timbers, but lots of mean Cottonmouths and Copperheads. I've killed a bunch, especially after an older cousin was bitten by a copperhead. In basic training at the front range of Colorado I woke up one fall morning to find a Prairie Rattler curled up next to my sleeping bag. I laid there without breathing but with my heart beating like a drum for what seemed like days till someone approached and it slithered off.
When living in Texas I took Ike and his older hunting partner, Murphy Brown, to be snake-proofed by this bird hunting club. They used live rattlers but pulled their venom before the deal. They would put a extra strong shock collar on the dog and approach a snake where the dog could smell them. When the snake struck at the dog they would hit the collar. Most dogs took about three tries before they would smell and avoid the snake. Ike was like a strutting little kid - he would bounce around back and forth just out of range and irritate the snake. It was a real hot day and as Murphy approached the snake her second time as soon as she smelled it she flopped over on her back with her legs stiff in the air and her eyes bugged out. The guys thought she had had a heat stroke but I took her lead and called her away from the snake and she got up just fine. Ike would forever tease a snake but Murphy would just bug her eyes out and leave. That's the way I feel around them.
LOL, Nothing like a 12 ga. full choke with a load of 6's or 8's to shred them. I blew a big banded water snake in 2 about 2 weeks ago with a load of 8's at 15 yds.:cheers2
