Just an FYI, most guys use Epoxy to use on the hook/groove area. Wood filler may work too, I don't know that.Quote:

Hi Skip.
I was was out of epoxy and didn't realize it until it was time to glue it up. Actually I had some, but the top of the cylinder had come off and it oozed out into the ziplock bag I had it in. Thanks to the bag it didn't make a mess! This one doesn't have a cupped front, but I probably should have. Those eyes gave me fits and by the time I was finished my fingers were covered in super glue. I still enjoyed making it, but I learned some things I will do differently on the next one
Nice fly look good.
I think it resembles a slider bug, and a very nice job. Works well on the quiet days when the fish are spooky and a popper is too loud. I hope you epoxy the paint on this one or the future ones, mine lost the paint on the second fish without the epoxy.
It's always good to step out of our comfort zone and tie or make some thing new to use because we always learn something from the effort. Plus we also know a lot more about what we are trying to make so we can get faster and neater doing these things! I bet something will eat it though! One thing to be careful of is with the foam type popper heads, you have to be careful with how much feathers we lit on it because of how it will sit in the water. Probably the same to some extent with most any material for the head.Quote:

Nice work and a good looking popper. Poppers can be fun to make, many different ways to go.
